Just a FUN out of the box build....
Italeri M-20. and yep... that's the kit tow cable also.
Only changes or additions are 1. deleted the M-8's ammo storage locker on right side, and made a shelf and radio.
2. Added .10 plastic disk to beef up the skinny tires.

Not too shabby for an OOB build. Looks convincing.

It appears that your trademark painting was applied on this kit? The tow cable looks fine.
In the head-on pic, it looks as if the right-side head lamp is a little crooked. Could just be me though.

Just an update, I tried to straighten out the light guard Ken... :-) Got it a little better than before.
Added a pin wash, wanted to try something new, so instead of the usual black or umber, I used an mixture of green and brown ink, coming up with a dark greenish brown, and lightly applied it to the recesses. I then dusted on several lighter tones/shades/value's ---what ever you feel like calling them working from the bottom to the top, so in real life the top is a little lighter than the lower parts. The gun ring and gun aren't glued yet, so I have access it interior.

Hopefully the clear coat, then decals will get on tonight and over the weekend.

Hi Dave,

That is a nice looking M20. Maybe is it an idea to apply some postshading? But I suppose it is to late for that because you already applied washes ie.

Will this vehicle be on a dio?

Keep up the good work and I'm looking forward to see more pics

That is sweet Dave. My only comment is about the tool box on the front. Looks sorta "stuck" there if you know what I mean. Maybe a weld bead or something to make it more more attached?

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Shaun, will added a weld to the brackets, no matter how many times you look, there's always something that gets overlooked.

You are more than welcome Dave. You are not nearly as Grumpy as you handle would suggest.

Grump

Good build. On the rear lights, should a part of the lens be red, the other black? (not sure)

Any possibility of getting an over head view?

Thanks

hey dave, hows the overal kit and interior of the italeri m-20? compared to the tamiya one if possible. iam asking because dec.1st i ordered from my lhs, a month a a half and 4 calls with the answer"what you place an order here? sry, il take note of it again" i got my order, tam jagdpanther, and a few otehrs, but no m-20 twice i order and iam missign something. so iam definetly gonna order online next time, plus iam getting tierd of tamiyas germas armor, just the kit, no extras!.

okay sry, got off topic, but i couldnt control it, thats why id like you tell me how the kit is because were i want to order they have the italeri one also

thanks old man

Steve.... haven't gotten around to doing the headlights or taillights yet. Only detail painting that has been done is to the interior. then I just stuff a small piece of sponge packing in the top to mask for the exterior painting. That spongy thiny in the one photo to be exact. If you get anything packed in these, they work great for masking openings.
Frank--- Don't drink this week end and do your homework----
:-) :-) :-) ----- my new standard answer to Frank..... :-) :-) :-)
The kit interior is a lot more basic than Tamyia's, I don't have the Tamyia M-20, just the M-8, so can't tell you the differences, but the Tamyia M-8 interior is a little better detailed, so I would assume their M-20 interior is also.
Had no really major fit problems with this kit, and used very little filler, just a tad on each front fender, and the axe head.
A small gap on the rear fenders I simply filled using Model Masters Clear Cement, if I recall, it took two layers to fill the small gap, allowing it to dry between applications, and using a moist Q-tip/cotton bud to wipe off the excess, so not to lose the little details there.

I'll post a few shots of the interior with the next installment...

Well, moving along, just about finished, the final weathering and detailing will come after I do the base and ground work.
Still have the aerials to make up, and a little weathering on the MG. But this will sit on the sideline for a while, until I finish up my campaign entries. All in all it was a fun, out of the box build.
Feel free to comment, and if you see something please feel free to say so, I will not be insulted, or upset. I did try to make the previous corrections as they were pointed out.

:-) :-) :-) Don't feel bad, I tried to do a muliti colored dye job, just didn't turn out the way I envissioned it in my mind either. Better luck on the next one. I think if I use actual dye, instead of drawing ink next time, (all I had at hand was the drawing ink when I made the net, now I have some dye) the colors would have been more stable, and not wash out when soaked in the water/white glue mixture....... :-) :-) :-)

too true my friend!

Dave almost missed this one. You have done a real good job on her. Only thing I noticed was the MG barrel unlocking handle. I thought these had a wooden handle at the bottom? but I could be wrong.

Again a nice job and well up on your usual standards

Great progression - got in on this one late, but nice job.

So here for the RRB rules- the back left shock absorber connector looks 'empty' the round opening that accepts the pin from the drive shaft is not the same as the right side.

Yep, you're right Scott .... the right was the same, except it got filled with the mud, actually there should be a nut and bolt on each that holds the shocks to the axle. I'll find a close enough size grantline laying around and glue them on, and slap a little more of the Elmers on. (Might be a good idea to do all 6 shocks that way, but really didn't want to stray too far from out of the box)

Looks real good Grump, I like that idea you have of using a punch to make a disk to beef up them tires, now I got to go looking for punches the size of my inadequate tires, that is a lot better then buying a whole set of other tires.

Kerry, I didn't use any punches to make the disks to fatten the tires. I simply use a circle template, and drew in the size I needed and cut them out with a small pair of scissors. Sanded the edges when I was done.
