Hey Guys,
Here is some progress on my 1st Hussars SHerman V Circa July '44. I have started the weathering and still have a bit of a ways to go yet. I have to finnish up the detail painting etc.The markings are from Ultracast and the airial recognition star and circle were painted on with an Eduard Mask. I had started on Friday with a wash to the lower hull with oil paints. I thought I had used Turps but I had grabbed some whitespirits and it melted the track pins in about half of the links. SOOOO i had to scrap the indy tracks (4.5 hours down the tubes) and use a set of Academy T62 tracks with the plastic extender pieces from the Achilles set. Thanks for looking
Cheers,
Bryan

Bryan
This is such a great Sherman. The construction, (shown in an earlier thread), is now complimented with this outstanding paint/weathering job. Very impressive. Nice subtle variations of the OD. The rear end and nose pics are so authentic, one could believe they are looking at the real deal.
Oh, one more thing, ------------ WOW!!!!
Steve
ps: please give my your mailing addie so I can send my stuff over to be painted (smile).
pps: This one would be a great content submission for Models on Display or a Feature (hint hint)

Thanks for all the really encouraging comments gents. Harrison the helmets are actually Commonwealth AFV crew helmets. They are similar to British para helmets but they have a different liner and a slightly different outer shell. Steve it might just get submitted as a build feature..who know LOL

Hi Bryan I like it very much. What do you think about some faint rain streaks? Just a thought.

Brian, another awesome Sherman. Your paint jobs are amazing I don't know how Steve and yourself gets so good looking OD.
I would love to see a article about this build.
About the helmets, how widely werethey used by commonwealth forces?
TIA

Outstanding - the subtle weathering really works and with the initial quality of the build, that is fantastic work .

Another stunner Brian. I love your Shermans ... always standing out in, considering the amount being modelled today. The one thing that especially attracts me is the stowage and the arrangement of it. Its always top-notch. Love how you used the return roller.
The only thing that needs some attention, IMO, is that the helemts are the same colour as the rest of the tank .... but as your not finished, this is something you may have planned to do. Good luck with the rest.. and yes IŽll second the call for an article ... build and painting plus a snipet on stowage.. especially the nice tarps you make.

Cheers lads..its really appreciated. Andy the helmets were widely used by all commonwealth forces in Italy and NWE. I have many many pics of crews wearing them. Frank your right they do need som individual attention as they are kinda blending in a bit. An article is in the works but I think its gonna be picked up by a magazine. SOOOOO I will do individual articles on weather and Stowage for you guys if you would like. Im happy to help out where I can.
Thanks again Guys.

Bryan what more can be said ..awesome build ..I see you beefed up the armored plates on the sides..good call buddy...One of the nicest OD finishes I have seen..Are you planning a crew or did you do a full interior too?? Now if I were to try and find a nit pick and I mean this is rediculous is I might change the color of the blanket sticking out of the turret stowage box just to show the open box off a bit more ...(Now that is streching it to the limit ain't it! ):)
