Armorama's Finest - Service With Honor campaign has been submitted and is taking enlistments pending approval.
This build is open to ALL GROUPS, no scale or kit restrictions and I'm hoping we get a great cross section of air, land and sea represented from ALL countries.
The aim of this campaign is for prior service, active duty/reserve military personnel to show off their vehicle, planes, ships, figures to represent yourself if you'd like etc from all branches of the service, from all countries.
Haven't served but have a loved one who has? Honor them with a build representing their job in the military!
The proposed campaign has a start date of NOW and an 'end' date of 12/31/2005. Active duty personnel are exempt from this end date, they may complete their builds as their deployment schedules allow.
All servicemen and women of ALL countries are encouraged to get involved, be proud of your service to your country and show it.
Armorama's Finest, it's your moment of honor.

What a great idea, and I've already got the kits in mind, but with the two campaigns I've signed up for already, (not to mention some other projects I've got going on) I probably won't have time.
How's this? I had already decided to build TWO I-688 Los Angeles Fast Attack subs, representing the two boats my son served on, for the DDD campaign.
Is it "legal" to split my entry and put one in each campaign? I'm getting ready to start in about two weeks and had planned to build them simultaneously.
Just wondering.

While I literally have about a half dozen tanks and almost as many HMMWVs to chose from, I think I'll narrow it down to one of two vehicles. Either my old M60A3TTS aka "Wild One" or the HMMWV I used as an observer/controller (O/C) during Reforger 1990.
I've picked these two because I loved that old tank and the Revell of Germany M1038 depicted on the boxart is exact HMMWV I used during that Reforger.

I can't speak for the DDD campaign Tom, but I have no problem with anyone using a build from another campaign if it fits this campaign. This is a campaign to honor those who serve(d) that are here on Armorama, it's a no-contest campaign to get everyone to build what they were on. Show off to the world the servicemembers of Armorama and the jobs they did for their countries.

Sounds great Sabot, you can do one or both it's your choice. I'll be doing an M-60A1 so if you did an A3, that old girl will get some representation in the campaign.

Sounds like a plan, I'll do just that! I've already got vehicles from 4 different units I was assigned to and also an A-7D flown by an ANG unit I was attached to as a Ground Liaison Officer. Felt "OK" doing a plane because it was pattern painted. :-)
Doing representations of equipment I was associated with has always been one of my sources for kit selection, as I suspect it is for many veterans. Great idea for a campaign, and although I doubt I'll find the time, I've got a couple of M-110A2s that are just waiting downstairs!!

Dont forget to sign up guys in the Campaign Forum!!!!!!
Moe said it was ok to submit stuff that was already down, so in that case I am going to take new pictures of 3 of my Hummers. One is a standard 4 seater Hummer that I am signed for. I built it before the 49th changed to the 36th Infantry Division, so it has 49th bumper numbers. It also has my name on the drivers side as a Specialist. Since then, I have been promoted to Sargent and now i am the Section Chief.
The other two are "TOW Huts". One of them is in 3 tone camo and I am signed for now. The other is in desert camo and I was assigned to it back when I was with the 24th.
Know this will get me to finish a 5 ton that has been sitting on the shelf for a while. It is the 5 Ton with our "Missile Shelter" on it that is in my section now.
Cant wait to start seeing pics of every bodies stuff!!

Ciao Moezilla,
I signed up right now. It will motivate me to scratchbuild the entire thing, since I don't think there are models of mines. Now, all I have to do is find a figure of an early 80's era seaman in dungarees to go with it.
Ciao for now

Definitely get a picture Dave, just make sure it's one without Noah in it.
This is great, we have several enlistments thus far but where are our fellow Big A members representing the services of other countries? I know we have many here who serve in other counties, get on in here! Spread the word, bring 'em on in!

I've just enlisted. Now to decide what to build. I've already built a M966, M151A2 (TOW), and at least one figure. I could build a M113A, to depict my USAR hitch with Troop D, 5th Armoured Cavalry, 187 Infantry Brigade or the one I drove while with 2AD (76-79) Or if I can find one a M901 ITV.

Is an oldie already on the display shelves compliant with the rules or do I need to build a new one for the campaign ?
However, count me in even if I can't promise to hit the target
Would be a either a platoon leader or a company commander version of the VAB.

Olivier, yes you may use a model you already have built if you choose. I know everyone's got a full plate with a lot of excellent campaigns already going so I'm not trying to force anyone to build something new. If you have already built something that you served on, feel free to use pictures of it along with a picture of yourself when you served.
Thanks for the interest, we need more participants from around the world!

Good idea & it fits right in with two ideas that I have been collecting reference material for -- an M816 wrecker and/or an M818/M127 tractor trailer. However, both projects are scratchbuilds & I will not have time or space to get to them until late summer at best.
These come from my days in the 122d Maint Bn, 3rd AD & 701st Maint Bn, 1st ID, 1970-77.
Perhaps I should hold off enlisting until I know I can commit.

I just enlisted Maurice, thanks for the great idea!
Iwill be building the M151A1 Jeep with 106mm recoiless rifle I drove while in the Army's 1st Inf. Div. in 1969 and 1970. This is going to be great! I have no pics of me with the jeep, but I think I can find one of me.
Cheers,
Garry

Thanks for joining Mika, it'll be nice to have Finland represented as well. See, you always had that kit since you know it so well. Now, you have an excuse to build it!

John, the 12/31 date can be worked with if need be. The goal is to include as many people as possible for this and will be an 'ongoing' campaign, even after the completion date. I would like to see everyone get a chance to represent themselves or a loved one who has served their country. Do what you can, there's no pressure.

The pic of you with the vehicle is not mandatory, it would complement the build nicely but a picture of you in uniform would be just as good and serve the same purpose. Thanks for joining us!
We're starting to get international service members involved, this is great! We have fellow servicemen from France, Finland and the UK so far. Let's see some more, I know we have more than that on board here.
