Hi all,
After completing my M4A1 76(w) "Jessica" for the One of ours tanks campaign I continiued on my Mud, Sweat and Gears entry again.
The full story of my build can be found here
Latest progress: I've got the model (almost) ready for paint. All I've got to do is spray primer over the model and grab my airbrush! Hope to start this weekend....

Good looking kit build Martin---is this one going in a dio "hooked" onto something or are you planning on a display only?
Keep us posted.

Yeah I was planning on a M88 lifting a M113:
My (planned) dio will show the M88 just before lifting the M113, which got of the road and got stuck between rocks or something like that...
Not sure if I can finish this dio as entry....if not, this will be my entry for MSG!
Btw, I choose this because it really shows the M88's power!

Martinn, as you know i never built a "support" vehicle of any kind, but this work of yours looks like its gonna be a winner when finished, just be slow with AB work and detail and weather it nicely!

I will
Got a question about weathering. What colour should the chipped paint be? Steel? (like on my Sherman)
Hmm weathering for a Vietnam-vehicle....that's something new for me :-) Got to find a nice dust colour for this

For the primer under the base color,go with an oxide red.In moderation. Our tanks would get only occaisonal chips, but plenty of streaks from something they brushed by.
As for the dio, make sure when you are finished, have the small hatch that the lifting cable comes out of,open all the way.
Interesting to see the photgraph shows the spade "up" while lifting the M-113! (++) (++)

Martin,
Your M88 is coming along very nicely........I don't know much about Vietnam vehicles so I can't comment on the accuracy

By "VietNam M88", I assume they mean it is the gasser, and not the (yuck) diesel version ????
You ain't seen/heard nothing till an AVSI-1790 is at full throttle, with the M88 kinda reared back like it was on the step & ready to lift off. We had one '88 doing almost 50 mph down the Autobahn. Flames out the back are just a bonus ...
We used to hold Top-Stock-Eliminator with the M88's runs every Friday afternoon just before we went to the Club for Happy-Hour(s) .... Long time ago ....

As I said, I don't know [auto-censored] about Vietnam vehicle. The boxart tells me it's a Vietnam vehicle, and I assume they're right:

Yeah I usually don't do modern armor but I could lay my hands on this kit for a very good price, so I decided to try modern. Must say it's pretty cool. Nice details and it looks very powerfull :-) This kit also comes with some PE parts etc, makes it a nice kit!

Coming on very nicely there Martin. Do you happen to know the difference between this AFV M88 NAM kit & the M88A1? TIA.

No sorry. For that, you should check out some reviews at for instance track link or maybe the perth military modelling site...

the lack of the Acav shield for the MG....... and trhe Engine are the real differences......... in the kit i think it's just the acav shield.......cause the engine deck looks the same as my M88a1's

Yes that's one difference.....I wouldn't know about the rest and I don't know how accurate this kit or the other AFV club M88 is. One thing is for sure, it's a nice kit of an impressive vehicle!
