There is a subject of the destroyed T-55 in the Tamiya Model Magazine Issue #113 : using Mig pigments...
Destroyed T-55
If your M-24 Chaffee was hit by a RPG and burned out, there is no more rubber on the wheels...
HTH.

Try this link:
http://home.quicknet.nl/qn/prive/opmbbs/tips/UItgebrand/fire.htm
Quite easy but nice way to make a burned out tank, but not as beautifull as the pigments....
Remember (like already said) that rubber burns very very good, so don't forget ash (as) from the burned rubber etc. Also, if you didn't already, you should consider buying seperate tracks from for instance modelkasten or fruilmodels. Expensive, but the rubber tracks from the italeri kit can't be really used for a burned out tank I think....
I like your progress so far.! Keep up the good work!

I was just over to this site, and they said they are down for repairs, but as soon as they get up and running, they have great pictures of destroyed AFV's of all kinds that you can look at, I was a little disappointed you couldn't see them now, but I have seen them before, and I know they are there when they get it fixed.
The place is called Russian Battlefield, and their address is
http://www.battlfield.ru/index.html
They show regular, captured, and destroyed AFV's of your picking as soon as they get everything up and going, so this will be a great site to mark if you don't already have it. You should be able to look at a lot of these pictures and get a lot of good ideas on how to finish your model by seeing just how they really look when they are destroyed.
I hope this is up and running in time to help you.
