I'm hopping on here late, but I think I can finish. My idea is to recreate the painting, The Sentinel, by Michael Wooten. http://www.assonetart.com/wooten.htm
I'm not sure if I should post the image since it's copyrighted. Basically it shows a knocked out Sherman tank rusting in a field. I'm building it to honor those tanks, and crews, killed liberating Europe.
I'll be making the old Tamiya Sherman Jumbo. The kit itself looks very simple, just a lot of seams to sand down. The biggest challenge is to do the a proper job on the rusting.

Welcome to the campaign... Your project sounds interesting!
The photo Michael Wooten used as inspiration, was once published on the cover of a magazine called "Battlefield"...
I have the magazine... So if you want a scan of the photo on the cover, let me know!
Best regards,
Bjoern Clausen

About two years ago I saw that and had the same idea! I took the poem, shrunk it down and actually used it in my dio. Here is a pic-you can just make out the bottom of the poem in the pic. At the time I didn't know the name of the aurthor. I have a couple of more pics of this dio in "my gallery"-Good luck.

Great idea, how about 2 defeated germans looking at it, the one saying to the other " We got this one, too bad they had so many"
