Welcome to our 30th Forum on Armorama.com! This forum is for posting in-progress images of your work for review and feedback from your peers. Your fellow members in turn are expected to post constructive criticism for your project and hopefully give you their insights on how it could be better.
To those posting:
Please don't post here if you aren't interested in hearing an honest opinion of your work from fellow site members. The model should also be something in-progress. Prior to a final wash or other final weathering. If you'd like to show off a completed piece I would be happy to include it in either the main gallery or the MSN gallery.
To those responding:
You are expected to provide real constructive criticism. You can say something looks good, but (as almost nothing is perfect) you'll need to also point out whatever elements you see that could use improvement or you find some issue with. Don't just say something is too "weathered", instead specify what areas are particularly causing you to say that. Also try to provide some ideas on how that aspect might be improved. We are looking for helpful comments here, not hurtful ones. Flame-bait or other harrassing posts will be removed without notice.
IF YOU POST A SIMPLE CONGRATULATORY REMARK IT MAY BE REMOVED. Fair warning.
Thanks,
The Staff and Moderators of Armorama

Jim - I do want to thank you for attempting to clarify the purpose behind this forum. Hopefully, by letting people know it's okay to make constructive comments, it'll help boost the number of people participating. I've always been a strong believer of these comments, both on the giving and receiving ends. They're a great aid in improving your builds, and exchanging info to other builders. If taken advantage of, this section is one of the greatest benefits of these forums.
That said, I completely do not understand why you would want to ban finished builds from the forum - it even states they're welcome in the subtitle - if someone is looking to get their work critiqued. A finished build, like any one that's in progress, can benefit from being looked over by multiple eyeballs. I can't count the times I've seen builds that were supposed to be finished, yet had overlooked items that needed a bit more work (this includes some of my own). Sometimes these items are easy fixes that the modeler can go back and correct, making their built that much better. Other times, it's something a bit more serious that. While being too difficult to go back and correct, it still gives the modeler an idea of how to do the next one better.

It could stand being brought up, again. I'm constantly under attack, for pointing out deficiencies.

No, actually, the date of the original post eluded me, but, as Matt stated the idea seems to need reinforcement.

I've been away for a while but am now building again ( an RAF Typhoon Eurofighter so not applicable here) however when I did take the plunge to show off some of my work when I returned to the hobby it was great to get any feedback at all even a "simple congratulatory remark". Often building models is a solitary thing, wives and girlfriends in my experience don't really get it and therefore to get some comments on your pictures from your peers is very rewarding. So in my humble opinion the last sentence of Jims post "may be removed"!

Hi guys. Since I am new here and a bit confused with forums, can you please help me. If I make in progres photos and want to share them for feedback, I put them in Constructive feedback forum, right? And when the model is finished, do I place the pics of the finished build in the same topic in Constructive feedback forum, make a new topic in that forum with finished model or make a new topic in a new forum (as I did with my SU-152 yesterday)?
Thanks.
Thanks.

A key point, IMHO: "what should be posted in THIS forum"?
From where I sit, IF all that should really appear here are things in their juvenile and WIP stages, and NOT finished (or what the builder may hope has achieved that exalted status ) builds, than I think I may see part of why some folks might not be lurking... and some may not be posting their stuff here for comment.
IF the intent of this forum is to allow folks to post stuff so that others will provide critiques and comments... then perhaps we should really ask for and encourage that folks post their finished stuff, as versus WIP bits. Some folks, I, for one, are very interested in getting comments on the finished stuff - but maybe not so interested in comments about some WIP step. And the nature and focus of those potential comments may be very different - when looking at a finished thing, I am more inclined to look at and comment on larger-scale and overview characteristics ("good overall weathering, great use of counter-shading on those upper surfaces, nice, realistic load of cargo - but if you are going to have a dusty, dirty upper side, shouldn't the tracks and road-wheels be dirty?"). IF I am looking at WIP steps - say construction of the final drives on a Pz IV kit... I might be focusing on a demo'd building technique or working over some unfortunate gaps or a seemingly great way to create oil-leaks... a comment focused to some detail area and operation. Such detail comments are probably like overly-anal minute nit-picking once the whole thing is presented as "fini".
For those who relish or seek detailed comments on specific WIP stagess and event, there is always the option of posting a specific question and solicitation for comment about this specific step - appropriate to various forums (painting, techniques, general...). And for those who may wish to serially expose all or many steps along a build to open critique and comment, there is always the opportunity to post stuff as a build-log (and when participating in campaigns, to post WIP pics as you go).
Maybe we should have some sort of separate "WIP constructive feedback" forum so labeled to facilitate getting focused comments on WIP steps?
Just a suggestion and opinion!
Bob

Last time I checked, feedback can be defined as positive or negative. Excluding a compliment seems a little extreme.
The big advantage these sites have over the Facebook sites are that these sites have always seemed to be more mature and civil than Facebook. We don't seem to have the trolls that just want to knock people down for the sole purpose of propping up a low self esteem. If I see things I like and admire, I'm not holding back! ha ha.

Gents look at when this post was started in 13 years a lot has changed and I will add I am unaware of a 'well done' post having been removed ever.
The rule of thumb is treat members how you would wish to be treated.

Actually the overall description of the Constructive Feedback forum are just as valid today as the day I posted this. Although obviously there is always a little wiggle room on this stuff. The intent was that people posting in this forum ARE LOOKING FOR constructive feedback... not high fives.
Those looking to post finished photos of their work and not really get feedback (more of the constructive criticism variety) can post those in any of the other relevant forums. Also in the description it more clearly states "For in-progress or completed build photos. Give and get contructive feedback!", so yeah finished photos are fine Bob (AFVfan).
Cheers,
Jim

Hi guys,
Yesterday I was attracted by the title of the tread: READ FIRST, so I read. Then I checked the date. It is not clear to me why this very old post has been unfreezed, but I was pleased to read.
I fully agree with Paul:

After 10 years, Armorama has become a large place where people who have the same interests meet and exchange experience and comments. I think the Staff and Aministrators can be proud of that !

I have done a couple of "Well done" comments. I have not noticed that they have been removed. They are normally directed to younger model builders who are on this website for the first time or who are building for the first time.
I do not consider this a "high five" as you do not know me or my modelling skills. If it helps a younger model builder do better or acknowledge that he did a good job then so be it.
Guess I will put in a comment about the wash or rust detail every time. Orders are orders.

I get where there coming from when they say to not post comments like "looks good" or "good job" since it doesn't tell the modeler what they did well on or where they can improve, and a pretty young modeler and being fairly new to the hobby, it still feels good when someone with a bit more experience tells you that you did a good job, even if there not specific on what you did a good job on, and as far as criticism goes, im all for it, usualy thats they best way to find out what you have to improve on

Hi there. I'm new to armorama and armor models in general. I recently posted two different models in the constructive feedback forum: MRAP. And Tiger I Direct Hit. The MRAP was "in work " but the Tiger was complete. How do I post the completed model? I see in your read first note to post in the "gallery" or the MSM gallery and yet I do not know how to do either. Can you please assist. My work is not super pro like most of the postings on your site but again I say I'm new to armor and just want to share and become part of this very awesome site.
Best regards from Charles.

Hi Charles,
I see there are some in progress shots of your MRAP in gallery album. Please add photos of completed model and then message me. I will tell you how to add them to your post.

Hi guys, after some years of my absence, I am here to wanted to ask the moderators if it's acceptable to tell how and why it was decided to build a model before starting to post his WIP.
For example, I would like to explain why I intend to homebuild the model of the small Italian L3/35 tank in honor of my father, who used it in North Africa and for this I would like to explain who my father was and insert some of his vintage photos.
I would also like to include some technical elements on this tank before explaining what I'm doing to realize its model.
What do you think? This kind of premise could be interesting for someone and for this to be accepted in the forum?
(.... yes ... say yes to me... yes .... say yes ...)
Cheers

Hi Gianfranco,
Personally I would be glad to hear the story behind your built and I believe there is no problem to share it in this forum as I have seen before such posts for builts dedicated to family members, veterans and more.

Hi Guys
I like hearing the comments on the builds that I post here.
I do this to keep my brain and fingers working, I'm a disabled Vietnam Veteran , going to be 72 in a couple of months if I live that long.
I'm currently doing a build on Trumpeters 1/16th Panther, and just finished the Engine. The instructions don't show you how the fuel lines fit. My pics. do.
I'm sorry to be so long winded, but I'm just trying to help others that do the kits.
Regards.
Donald
