Hi fellow modelers,
I have been thinking this over for a long time.
I see that most of the recent and past forums are mostly about vehicles, eras, etc. I may be wrong but there hasn't been any campaigns about structures or groundwork.
So, I thought I could lead something like a bunkers or trenches campaign. Given the context, it would most likely be a diorama. It would also be an opportunity to show off your skills in making detailing groundwork and structures. Let's just start with bunkers and trenches.
The problem is, I dont' know how to make ribbons, medals or campaign banners.
What do you think?

Hi Angela
Sounds cool. However I've joined too many campaigns already so I will only join if you won't start if before 2006 :-) If you start the campaign in 2006 I will join!
Don't worry about the banner, ribbons etc. I can make a banner for you, and so do a lot of other members. Just ask and you will receive!

Hi Angela,
that's a real cool idea! You are right that almost all the campaigs are about vehicles so making a bunker would be a nice thing to do
I'm definately in

But when it get's going I'm joining

Cool then!
I was thinking of making pillboxes, trenches and bunkers. A special award might be given to structures with detailed interiors.
Since these are structures, I reckon that most of the entries will be in diorama form. Vehicles and figures, of course, can be included. I was thinking that this will be a refreshing and challenging activity since we can practice our scratchbuilding skills and diorama making skills.
I'm also in many campaigns now so I share the same sentiments with you. It's quite difficult to run the campaign at this time.
So maybe we can run this campaign on...maybe January 2006 or late (maybe November) 2005?
Would that be okay? Do you have some more suggestions?

I'm definately in!!!! I've been thinking about rebuilding the " trench of the dead" (dodengang) at the river Ijzer in Ieper, Belgium, 1917..
Starting around October or November sounds great... nothing like building a lot of trenches during rainy and cold days.

Angela,
Count me in too if you do it in 2006. I have lost count of the number of kits I have working now and the IPMS US Nats are coming at the end of July. But I love the idea and would enjoy the build.
Tracy :-)

Okay.
We can start the campaign on January 2006. It's a little bit too early for now but time flies fast....
By the way, emplacements are also counted.
Since this is mostly a dio build, we'll make it run for 6 months. Therefore, that would be from January 2006 to June 2006. That will give us enough time to scratchbuild, add interiors, etc.
How's that sound? What about a title? I was thinking "To Hide and Protect."

That's cool, Martinn.
People, suggestions for titles?
We have
1) Dug in
2) To Hide and Protect (In refernce to the police motto "To serve and protect).
I'll be preparing the guidelines and submit the campaign proposal. If you have any suggestions to make this campaign more fun, please post them.

Hi Angela,
Any time, any how. I'm in this campaign. The idea is very attractive.
Here's my suggestion for the name of the campaign:
"The narrow hell"
cheers

Angela -
What a terrific idea. A great change of pace as well as an outstanding way to share and see techniques. You can count me in for the Campaign and a 2006 start! How about something like "From the ground and up".

I love dioramas and will join any diorama campaign; but, we had this campaign last year........ Operation Coverup. This may keep your number of entrants down.

Angela,
2 things
1 I like dug in, that is wat we are talking about.
2. How about an end date of 6 June, the date the biggest bunkers were assaulted?
Just some thoughts.

Hi,
Puma112, hmmm....January 6 to June 6. That is five months. Let's extend it to another month. So that would be from January 6 to July 6. I think that would be sufficient time.
PLMP110, it's okay. I don't really care if the earlier campaign may hamper the number of entries. I think that since I started the idea as early as now, there will be almost a year to collect entrants.
I am now writing the "rules" and will propose them next week.

Here's another "CheeseHead" enlisting for this campaign: Your right JanWillem, seems to be a Dutch thing!!
Doing something WW1, perhaps using the ICM WW1 German Infantry set I ordered. Depends on how these figures look after opening the box... :-)
Keep us informed!

Cool! I see there are a lot of people who are interested.
I'll start making the guidelines....again....because I accidentally deleted the guidelines I made. I'll submit the proposal sometime this week.
Cool! I'm excited to start this one. We'll start this next year.
