Hi guys. I would like to enter this campaign, but the only TD I have is the Nichimo Charioteer MK8. Its a bit of a toy really, designed to be motorised, over scale, thick rubber band tracks etc. But as it's the only one I have, can I use it? The other thing is.... is it a TD? It says so on the box, but I'm not sure and cannot find any references about it.

The British didn't officially have TDs, they classed them all as SP guns, but the 20pdr had a mean tank killing ability so it remains up to the campaign leader here for a decision.

Thanks Dave. The Charioteer was based on a Cromwell chassis (I think, although it might have been bigger (Comet?), was turreted and sported a huge gun. As you say, the Brits didn't field TDs persay, but this was one.

I've just read up a bit on Google. The PLO and the Lebanese, the Finns and others bought the Charioteer as a TD. It was based on the Cromwell and sported a larger turret with the 20lb gun. The Brits didn't like it because the armour was too thin and the hull / turret was too high to allow the TD to go hull down for ambush etc. So can I build it????? Can I.......

I guess it's up to me to decide....
A google search tells me it's a Tank Destroyer
Interesting build btw, never heard of this tank before...
Go for it!

I'm really not sure about this. Looks just like a normal tank to me. Martin
Martin, officially this was an SP gun, and the 20pdr was classed originally as an anti-tank weapon, in fact it became the main gun for the early Centurion.
The Comet and Sherman Firefly were just classed as tanks.

Why sorry - I was on your side mate!!
I like these late & just post-war vehicles - Avenger, Challenger, Charioteer etc. Built a Charioteer prototype from a Cromwell and AccArmour conversion some years ago.
Not a great model, but then It's about 5-6 years old.
