Whats the difference between the Faun tractor that Trumpeter has modeled and the Faun that Canadian troops used?
Where they leased from the Germans? Do we use them in Canada?
I've found a couple of sites but they deal with the German version.
Can anyone shed some light?
Thansk for your patience

Don't think they are actually used by the Canadian Army at home. I believe they were used to haul Canadian tanks when on exercises in Germany and they are owned by the German Army.

Gino is correct in that we apparently leased them from the Germans when Canada still had tanks over there . There are some photos on Armoured Acorn (can't link right now, the site isn't coming up for me at this time).
The tractor units appear to be the same, but the trailer is different in that there are 4 axles, larger wheels, and only a single wheel on each side.
Cheers,
Jim

Actually we bought four of them. The tractor is almost identical to that in the Trumpeter kit, but it comes with and 70 ton capacity trailer, while ours where only 50 ton capacity. a friend of mine told me that the Dutch bought them from us when we closed out CFE. I have some line drawings of the correct traler, but it lacks detail on the underside.

Hi guys,
I have this project on the shelves started. I have begun to scratchbuilt the four axle trailer, but the amount of work to do is enormous, which is not easy without the help of drawings...I have on hand the Military Fahrzeug book of the Faun. There is a drawings of the 4 axle trailer, (SLT 50), the only ones a was able to find...
I have some pictures of the beast that were sent by donor on my site:

Paul, is it possible to have a copy of the drawing you have?
