Hi friends,

I think I'm almost done with this KV. I used the Tamiya kit with the verlinden update which was horrible because the fit was awful and a lot of surgery was needed. The tracks are from Fruil. Well anyway, I hope you like it and if I made some errors (as usual) please let me know. I know there some things that aren't correct like the other fuel drum on the fender. It sure must have been exploded too but I'm to lazy to fix. Maybe I will add some turret slogans too but I think it is a bit late for that I'm also considering to add two german soldiers examining this shot down tank.

It was my first winterwash try so I hope you like it.

Ahh, theres a couple. That looks very nice, I really like what you've done with the tracks. How about some scorched ground around it? And it may be the light, but some parts such as the fallen panel look a bit too shiny. Also, you've done well with the damage on the tank.

Now I can see them all. That is one brilliant KV1.

That's well done! I like the chipping, the winter cammo and the damage (the burnt metal parts) very much!.
Like Dave said, the ground is somewhat to 'kind' and neat for a place a tank is destroyed, make some scorched earth or muddy ground around the tank, specially where the damage is.

As for the slogans; it's not nessacery. It was indeed done by the russians often, but not always. (Actually, I guess there were more tanks without slogans than with slogans) But I know it's very tempting to put slogans on a rusky...

I think your KV-1 looks awsome i like the rust and the burned area, i agree with Dave maybe a little burned grass would look good. Even if you change nothing it still looks great.

good job there jurjen... the whitewash, battle 'scars' on the hull and the damaged area looks good. the groundwork looks great too, perhaps too 'neat' but i don't mind that at all... great work!

hmm.. what the dio needs now are a couple of figs- one on the ground and another on the tank hull or turret..., like you mentioned, either a couple of curious germans or the tank crews escaping..

Hi friends,

thanks for the nice comments and tips. I'm thinking about making a new dio base because the the tank doesn't fit in this scene and the tank is still floating on the surface si I need to change that. I'm also considering to make a wintersetting with some snow spots. I need to fill the front seam also. Totally forgot that

And I will definately make scorched earth Maybe I will add a few figures too but my figure painting skills are just horrible...

Thanks guys!

I will keep you updated

Jurjen, what a nice model! I like the way you made the paint chips. How did you do that? I'm always at a loss on duplicating paint chips such as yours.

It's very nice. My suggestion is put a heavy wash of dark gray (almost black) in the engine. It would depict the grease and grime of the engine as yours seem a little too clean for me.

Very nice work. Can you teach me how to make those wonderful paint chips? You can PM me, if you want.

Me.....need.....to....practice.....more....

Jurjen, not sure if it is possible at this point but, maybe put one of two of the hatches opened just slightly to show that the crew escaped or maybe they didn't. The addition of the scorched earth is also a good call. Very nice build even if you leave it the way it is. Love the rust effect. "Q"

Jurjen -

Beautifully done and very convincingly portrays your "destroyed" theme. Details are outstanding. I agree that a couple figures are needed and could complete the story. Only thing I have is that I'm not sure that the MG would still be there unless it was also too damaged. Maybe the Germans could be getting on KV to retreive it, if the crew hadn't taken it or didn't make it out? Great job.
