hi!

Here is a part of DML's Panther D instructions.
I'm having a bit of a hard time in finding the correct Tamiya colors for that scheme.
The base color- XF60 is already painted but I can't seem to find the other two colors.
I have told that the red (looks a bit pink isn’t it?!) should be XF64 red brown (same as the KT scheme) but it looks darker than the pink-red in the instructions.
The reason I'm writing this topic is because of the difficult in finding a reliable color reference chart of gunze Mr color/hobby color.
The red and green colors should be used are:
H37/43 (red)
H80/54
I'd like very much to know what are the the matchig colors by Tamya

by thw way.. how does this painting sheme called?

Every help would be great!
Thanks a lot,

Ori

The Tamiya colors are:
XF-60 Dark Yellow
XF-61 Dark Green
XF-64 Red Brown

I have used this color combo on the Tamiya King Tiger (Ardennes). Looks good.

I would say generally yes. Since German camoflage was done in the field with supplies available adding to that fading from UV exposure, the basic three color combination should be appropriate. You mentioned the box art shows the red as pinker. Any red that is not color fast will get pinker with exposure to sunlight.

Here are a couple of links that might help.

http://bsdi.usppp.com/wwiiscalemodels/schemes/panzertarnung.html

I have a site that has a farely complete history of German WWII camouflage colors with references to brand colors. It is on my desktop computer. I will send it to you tomorrow night if I do not find it before then.

Hope this helps.

Only references Vallejo and Humbrol but here is a good cross reference site.
