Here are a few pics of my Jagdpanther for the Ardennes campaign.
I still have the weathering to do and obviously the barrel (Jordio Rubio in the post).
It has been sprayed with Tamita acylics, futured, decaled, futured again, washed then dullcoated. So how do i dull the decals down, as they are a bit bright ??
Comments welcome. Yes i know about the track over the drive sprocket :-)
Oh yeah the hatch has still to go on the front periscope. (forgot to put that on,i'm an idiot :-))

Hi Andy...
I couldnt help to notice that most of the metak part are too silver which can be seen in the axe, jack and the thing in the front side armour plate (i still couldnt figure the name after some many german ww2 i made... )
You said that the model have been given dullcoat but i can see the model is still glossy. I never used such product (Testor Dullcoat).
What happend to the track on the drive sprocket?? The other side seems OK but what happen to the other side??
other than that, i think it's okay. I have the same kit and the same marking too

Yes it does look silver in the photos, but its suppossedly Tamiyas metallic grey (i don't know the name of that horseshoe shaped thing either :-)). Weathering, rust and more dullcoat should take care of any glossyness.

Every time i glued it , it just sprang back up (even with superglue), so it will be covered by a branch, once it goes into a dio.
Thanks Andy

Andy,
I think your Jadgpanther is looking quite good. regarding dulling down the decals and shiny metal you might want to try a heavily diluted light overspray of dark yellow or buff.

You might consider using some invisible thread to tie the track down on the drive sproket.. can prob do it without the thread showing at all...

Nice work on your Jagdpanther. I think you did a real nice job on the overall paint finish, and I simply love your camo scheme !! Looks awesome !
I wouldnt use the JR gun barrel however. I'd use the Eduard one for the Tiger II, or if your on a budget, use the kit barrel. I assume this is the Tamiya Jagdpanther kit ?
I will agree on those shiny tools. Tow shackles, jack, and some of the pionier tools would be the base color of the vehicle (ie dark yellow), with some wear and tear on them.
My big quesiton is, why did you not use PE grills for the rear engine deck ? It looks funny without them. Aber, Eduard, and Tamiya all have them for not much cash.
Maybe some more weathering on the lower hull and suspension. Right now your vehicle looks factory fresh, and thats ok if thats what you want to portray.
Looks good though, and again I really dig that camo scheme you did.
Send us more pics when you can !!
Cheers !!

If you never mentioned the sprocket I would not have noticed it.
I have found many times that I have needed several coats of dullcoat to remove the shine..
Fine looking tank you have there

As far as the tracks... I am not sure if these are the kit-supplied tracks, but they are actually too long, as in reality they touched the roadwheels between the 3rd and 4th roadwheel from the front.
For the rest of it, this is indeed a goodlooking Jagdpanther....

The sag of the tracks may or may not be too loose, as in pictures the tracks can be seen to be really tight without almost any sag, or almost running on all the wheels, like here, but apart from that, are these tracks not to wide?. I tought that the outside roadwheels run on the edge of the tracks, not sofar to the inside as here.
I do second the comments about the Camo, that looks great.
Cheers

You have done a great job on your jagdpanther.the only thing i noticed is the camo on both sides, the left side looks great nicely spread out but the right side looks so different, the como is too close and it dont match the other side.
About your tracks heat them up with a hair dryer so they go slightly soft and put some more glue on them, take a pen or something and place it inbetween the hull and track, leave for 10 mins and it should not spring back up.
Happy modelling
cheers karl

Thanks for all the comments. This was an enjoyable build from start to finish.
Robert
I found out about the Eduard barrels after i had purchased the JR one, and yes it is the tamiya kit.
The tools have been repainted.
I didn't use P.E as i only had a week to do the kit, i'm not that good at installing P.E yet (scares the hell out of me and need to practice with it) and i didn't want to miss the deadline as i have still got the dio and soldiers to do.
Harm and Henk
They are the kit tracks and i thought they looked to wide as well. The length seems o.k though.
Karl
Believe it or not that is how the camo is shown on the instructions. But to be honest it does look a little odd now you have pointed that out :-) :-)
Thanks again everyone for your observations, Andy
