Here is another project I've been working on from time to time. Of course, it's Tamiya's M1025 with Blast Models Oif sets and wheels, plus Eduards photo etch set. I still need to paint all the gear that goes inside and finish weathering it with Mig powder's. Plus I have the Nemrod Hummer crew to go inside and on top also.

Huh. Everyone seems to be doing Humvees right now. Anyway, it looks great. It also looks like you added the Pro Art SINCGARs too?

Your interior weathering looks very good.

I really like the color difference of the 3 tone on the frame, the solid green on the hood, and the sand on the side armor. My only real suggestion here for color variety might be to paint one or two wheel hubs sand.

Also, are the (real) gun shields factory painted green or sand? Or are they send as they are made and field painted? I ask this since one would think that the vast majority of these shields are probably being sent to Iraq and if so, why factory paint something green if it is going to a desert?

And do you plan to add any doors (half or full size)? I am just looking at a very armored vehicle with no doors and scratching my head.

All in all, my comments are minor compared to where you are now. It looks very cool. With any luck, mine will come somewhat close to yours in detail.

Yup, I was going to wait to post pics when it was finished, but I guess I would post some know so we can all get a feel of different models.

I'm using the Blast armored doors too.

You now Jeff, I'm not sure about the shields? You would think you would be right, but like the hood, I guess they would come from the factory painted over all green and if needed, painted in the field sand.

I didn't even think about throwing in a different color wheel hub. I'm going to have to see what that looks like.

Yup, forgot about the green one's too. But I think it has anough color change on it. The metal on the doors are going to be a rusty color like you see on some of the Hummer's where they scrounged for the metal. And not to mention the powder weathing I still have to do to it.

Once again another fine looking build, Pete. I had a few things that puzzled me from a technical stand point though.
1) Are those rack-type things in the back TOW racks or something different?
2) Is the platform where the gunner stands standard for all M1025/6 models or is that sometimes not there?
3) What does the SINCGARS set-up look like?
Only reason I ask is because I am building the Dragon M1026 with ASK and a lot of the stuff you have in your interior is missing from the Dragon kit. Returning back to the topic... Are you planning on putting it in a dio, or just a vignette? Once again, great build and I can't wait to see this one finished.

Kyle,
If you are talking about the mounts to the right in the rear, those are mounts for the .50 al and Mk 19.
On the SINCGAR set up, are you needing a picture of the real thing or a closeup of mine? If you need pictures of the real thing, I can help you on that. I took a bunch of picks for Maki and I have them saved on the computer in my office.
The plateform is supposed to be standard for the TOW Hummers and the M1025. Pretty much anything with a weapons platform on top. But some seem to get removed.
Your talking about the little 1/72 Hummers, right? I have those too and they are lacking in some things.
With limited space on the shelves, it will pobably be in a smale vignette with the crew and maybe another figure or two.

Hi Pete:

Nice looking Humvee. I especially like the wire coil. Can you take a better photo of it? How did you do it?

I also like the rack on the rear roof. It was something very common on 3rd ID Humvees too, but I could never tell how that was mounted. Can you explain that?

So what unit and time period will this be?

Cheers.

Not Pete, but here are some answers:

1. Racks on the rear floarcoard are the storage racks for the .50 cal, one for the receiver group, one for the barrel. They are not installed on all M1025/6s.

2. Gunners platform is standard on all M1025/6s. Academy kit should have this part, mine does.
3. The Pro Art SINCGARs set:

It comes with both ASIP (narrow) SINCGARS, the latest version, and the older, but still in wide ues, ICOM (wider) version. Either is correct for an OIF vehicle.

Bob,
The wire coil came with the Blast kit, but If I wher to make one, I would coil up some copper wire and wrap strips of tissue paper soaked in diluted glue and water.
You know Bob, being stuck here on Camp Mabry and not with my Battalion out in the desert, I don't get to see all the neat cool new stuff. Same ole boring old stuff here.
I don't know if I am going to put bumper numbers on it or not. I'm not sure which ones to put. The way I painted the vehicle, If I put anything on it, I want it to be accurate. Unless one of you guys can make a sugestion.

Thanks Gino for helping out!!!!!!!!

Gino-
Thanks for the info. That was exactly what I was looking for.

Yeah the little two-in-one set. I can understand why the interior stuff is missing, after all it is braille scale. The molding detail is nice for such a small kit though, and two for one ain't a bad deal. But I digress...

Great job EPI. Looking at your hummer makes me remember OIF 1 in 03 and 04. You did a great job of capturing the operational reality of the paint job on parts not matching as they are replaced.

So many hummers in Iraq looked like "patch quilt" vehicles as different parts were replaced.

Again, great job.

Thanks Brent.
My 4 seat Hummer has a solid green hood and thats where I got the idea from, but your right about seeing them that way. Like you said, "operational reality."

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the bumper sticker on the back hatch. Thought I would throw a little something personel in the mix. Its the "Don't Mess With Texas" bumper sticker from the Echalon decal sets.

Better pictures will come soon. Doors where done last night, so now its on to the gear.

Looks great EPI! You've been a great resource on so many threads.

By the way, I have a couple articles from Military In Scale about doing a Special Ops DUMVEE as they call it. Have you seen these issues? The model (based on the Tamiya kit) is quite amazing. I can send you some photo copies (I'll try to get them in color) if you are interested.

I always chuckle when I here that, "DUMVEE!" Yup, I've seen those article's. Thanks for the offer. Eventually, I want to have a collection of all the different Hummer variant's. So far I have a 4 seater and TOW contact Hummer (both are modeled after my vehilce in my unit), a M1025 with MK 19, and a TOW Hummer.
