What are your oppinions on this well I constructed (1/35) for a diorama I have planned:
P.S. The rope will be straightened once the well is in place.

Looks like a well to me. Looks pretty good. Only thing I see is that the crank handle looks too long. Looks like it would hit the bricks as you turned it and not turn completely around.

Thanks for commenting...I guess I'll shorten that crank seeing that it won't be that hard.
Thanks again,

Very nice, are you going to share with the rest of the class? :-) I personally would really like to know how you did it.

Thanks for the kind words Shain...maybe this will help:
This is everything I used....minus some minor things I forgot to photograph
(not shown are toothpicks and string)
Basic construction of the masonry...
Here is a shot of the roof structure:

Eddie, you've stumbled upon a deep subject here. :-)
I like how it turned out. Good idea with the sheet cork.
And I like the colors and moss, very realistic.

Excellent job. I do have a couple of comments:
1) The rope seems to be a bit on the thick side. I think it would make turing the crank difficult
2) Your beams and boards could use some nail holes and/or some rusted nails sticking out.

My input is that the base is nicely done. I would have done the roof material the other direction. The technique you used is nice.
One thing I would do is touch up the edges of the roof and scrape/sand off the excess wood burr stuff.

Thanks guys...
Concerning the roof...I was pondering both directions and like both...why I chose this one? Dunno really, just what I liked at that moment.
Thanks for all the comments,
Eddie

Well Eddie:
First rate well, there mate. Appreciate the added pix to show the "how to" aspects of what you did. I haven't worked w/ sheet cork yet. Found out about that masonry approach right here in River City. . . . 'er make that right here on the Big A. Yeh, the Big A. Thanks,

So how deep does the well go?
Seriously, that's a great idea.

I'm working on it...don't worry though...I'll be sure to post a shot of it once it's done. I just need to get a figure that will be standing next to the well and then I can start.

Thanks for the compliments Kevin...the mossy effect was produced through various green and brown filters and washes...really was quite easy.

In my opinion, the well is brilliantly done though I have to comment on one tiny aspect: In my opinion, the rope in the well is too large for 1/35! Maybe I'm wrong, just check it out with the others! What do you think? Am I right or is it just my imagination?
Cheers and happy modelling!
