I was looking at some pictures today and the two turrets look very similar. Question I have is are they the same basic design or very close? I know the Canadian turret is a .50 cal and 7.62mm where as I think the Marine one is a 40mm grenade launcher and .50 cal
They do look somewhat the same or am I am just nuts ?
It's been a long week hence all the questions today sorry gang.

Hi
I have been told yes and no. Some with whom I have spoke said they are close enough not to matter whereas others tell me they are totally different..
Sorry for not being definitive :-(

Close but no cigar. The cupola is the same (at least for the later Grizz turrets), but the side plates are quite different. The Grizz is much more symmetrical. The Grizz also has 'points' at the rear side plates, the UGWS is flat. Check these out:

Not too difficult to scratchbuild, if you have a cupola, or sacrifice the UGWS from the Tamiya kit.
Cheers,
Jim

Howdy Jim. The first pics I have seen of the AAV7 in Italian service. Cool. Speaking of "Tuna Boats" any updates yet? Out here.

Hey, Mike
Lots more Italian boats here:
http://www.ferreamole.it/images/aav7/index.htm if you haven't seen them yet. Worth snooping around the site, too.
No progress on mine, wanted to finish up a Campaign build first. Pretty soon will be back at it.
