Here are my Recce jeeps the way I remember them from the eightie's, ..or at least as best I can...that was a long time ago!
I can't think of a project that gave me so much pleasure in a long time. It was a blast to look through old course books and search for photo's..man there ain't much out there, frustrating but fun none the less! I tried unsuccsessfully to get to the BCR's museum but no joy ( although I might have an opportuntiy soon!)
The kits are Tamiya's M151 and Skybow/AFV Club's M-38,( which by the way is a little jewell, I'll be building more of those) paint is Poly S and the decals are a combination of Archer and Quartermaster.Tarps are Miliput with lead straps and Historex buckles. Camo nets; good old cheese cloth and dried herps. Tthe rest of the kit inside the vehicles is from Tamiya.
The FN's are from an Australian firm called Firestorm Models, they needed a little cleanup but look very good when painted.
Hope you like them.
Cheers

The M38 looks great. What colours of Polly S paints did you use for the greens?
Did all the Canadian 74 Pattern Jeeps(M151) have a roll bar? I have never seen any photos without them mounted.

Very sweet work Peter.
I remember both from my time in.We never really used iether of them as we had CJ7s 'till we got the Iltis.Yes they bring back the good times!
I'm just working on some CDN figures but I don't think they will be done by the 15th.Oh well.
Again great work!
Jim
P.S. you'll have to put them up at Finescale on display to show them off.

Thanks for all the kind words. Paint wise I used Poly Scale "Nato Tri Green" 505354 and "German RLM 67 Dk. Green" 5505308 thinned about 20% the dust is Tamiya buff thinned about 80% and just built up the coats.
As far as the roll abr is concerned I just don't remember on the '74's that we drove....I think we ( BCR's) borrowed them from another regiment, I think we only had '67's. , but between my buddy who now walks for a living ( Seaforths) and me we just couldn't remember. If I can get to the museum over at the regiment I can verify it and I'll be happy to add one ( won't that be great if I find a shot with me standing in front of one with a roll bar!!!)
Once again thanks for all the kind words...soon the M113 and M 577 will make a showing
Cheers

Very sweet looking kits. I love the little touches like the map tucked away in the hand bar.
How did you make the cam nets?

Materials ;
cheesecloth
white glue
dried herbs
plastic wrap
My technique for nets is something like this; cut and fold a piece of cheescloth to the size and shape you need, soak in a bath of white glue ( or yellow carpenters glue) in about a ratio of 70/30 (glue to water).
While the netting is soaking take a piece of plastic wrap
(enough to cover the model) and work it down and flat in the place where you want the netting to go.
Then take the netting out of the bath let it drain for a bit,and roll it in the dried herbs covering both sides of the netting roll., place it on the model (PLEASE don't forget the plastic wrap before you do this) work it in position and let it dry...and dry, it should take about 24 hours or so, paint black and then drybrush with greens, khaki what ever
Hope this helps
Cheers
