Hi all,
I think it is now done.
More pics to be seen on my website.

The vehicle is painted in the 3-tone camo scheme and slightly weathered as I wanted to depict one presented at the Omsk armament show.
Maybe I could have signed for the Burn Baby Burn campaign with this one

Enjoy your visit and thank you for the comments

Thanks Hilbert,
the tracks are Friul ones. They help giving a realistic look.
As far as the heavier wash is concerned, I'll give it a try.

Thanks for your kind comments Prato

Tiger, it is 1:35. The kit is a conversion set by SP Designs of Ukraine. The donor kit is Zvezda T-72B, same kit as DML T-72M something.

The base kit is not the best in the game but it is the one the conversion has been designed for. Maybe the Tamiya kit would suit. However you have to cut away some sponson sections to fit new parts. I've not compared both kits in detail but I guess the sponson are different as the sideskirts are, so few chances that SP replacement parts will fit.
Another point with the T kit is the well-known add-on armor plate on the glacis. It should be removed.

Looks good bison. The 'turret' ends look a little dull to me. Maybe highlight the rocket tube barrel ends to make them stand out a bit more.

Good work Olivier...too bad I am so darned slow I cannot finish the darn thing before you do...sheesh.

I checked out the conversion with the Hobbycraft T-72...the same kit that Trumpeter copied of the Tamiya kit. So essentially, the hull is the same as the Tamiya kit. Anyhow, the turret race fits...too well inside the T-72 kit. You could cut out the bottom of the turret and glue that to the bottom of the Rocket launcher, you can let things be loose and sloppy, or else you could glue it in place.

Also, as Olivier mentioned, the front armor plate would have to be shaved off. SIGH.

Hope to get mine done soon.

Hi Jacques,
we all hope the same way. I have understood Sergej improved this ref. Do you know what he modified ?

Does he intend to do a late version as the details on the launcher left side may let think this ?
I would suggest to him to issue correct stabilizers which would spare a lot of work.

Hiya Olivier,

I provided Sergej with his newest references, courtesy of Pierre Delattre. I know he has had newer, more detailed pics for a while, but he is concentrating on reworking older molds and on making some new kits right now. Also, since there are several versions of the TOS-1 that get shown, he is a bit frustrated as to which specific version to make. I have indeed brought the rear stabilizer detail to his attention anyhow.

As for new stuff, Sergej is working on his T-80 and MTLBu series. Ha is also making a conversion for the Tamiya T-55 for the BTR-T and DPM. That will be a nice conversion.

The only things I can find worth mentioning are the headlight, which I would pick out with some silver paint and clear gloss to make it look like a headlight and the rust up and blacken the exhaust.
Not really sure about the color of the caps on the smoke grenade launchers. Would they be cammo or some other color as they are disposable?

Great job on a really interesting conversion. I would really hate to see that thing coming at me with mischief on its mind.

Thanks for sharing.

Hi Shaun,
the colors I applied match the reference pics I got. The right headlight is more gloss black than I represented it. The smoke grenades launchers caps are really camo painted.
The exhaust is not enough blackened, I fully agree.

I hope soon posting pics of the kit after having done some extra painting work on it thanks to the comments from all of you

Jacques, thanks for the info about Sergej's projects. A BTR-T conversion for the Tamiya T-55 would be a must have I think. His T-80 is attractive too.
Considering how reactive Sergej is, I'm sure his new TOS series will be excellent.

two things:

1. I have started my own TOS-1 build thread. Feel free to check it out.

https://armorama.kitmaker.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=SquawkBox&file=index&req=forums/54452&page=1

2. Sergej is planning to update the kit eventually (after all the other work he has planned, sheesh guys, give the poor guy a break!)
