Here's my latest, a 1/48 Fujimi Tiger II. Track48 track set. Still missing a few pieces here and there (exhaust) and the paint job is an attempt at 3 color ambush.

I'm sort of at an impasse here; I started weathering the thing, and was about to start the washes and pastels, and realized that I hadnt put marking s on it yet. The kit has STICKERS, and I'm not using them, but cant find any 1/48 markings for a tiger 2. Maybe someone knows of a source?

Anyway, here iS my first ww2 German armor attempt, in 1/48 no less:

Constructive comments and critique are always appreciated!

Hi resistor!

I'm not an Armor specialist but your Tiger is looking pretty cool with this camo scheme! Nicely done!
You say it's a 1/48 Fujimi kit! Is it not Tamiya? Anyway it's a great work and it makes me want to try some armor too in 1/48!

I like your Tiger very well put together.but am not sure about the ambush sceme being on the Porsche Tigers.have you tryed painting the numbers on that would look more real,as its going to be hard finding decals in 1/48 scale.

Looks like the Bandai one I also have, though mine stalled while I tried to correct the mess Bandai made of the interior.

Nice build and painting, I'm with Karl on wondering about the ambush scheme though.

I'd try those from the Gaso-line range for your Fuman? kit, available direct from here Quarter-kit or via Great Models Web Store. Look for GAS50903, this is a generic set of tactical numbers and crosses.

Quarter-Kit On-line Store.. is your first point of call for anything 48th related....

I like the work you've done on the Tiger II a lot, really convincing camo which with a touch of 'toning-down', during the weathering phase, is going to be absoluely spectacular..

It's alsodamn good to see some 1/48th in the RRB. More please!!!...Jim

Looks nice so far. I would add some mud to the hull sides under the fenders, it looks way to clean to me.

Again nice job.

Thanks for the comments so far.

My bad, its the Fuman kit. Why I sais Fujimi I'll never know.

I've got the figures that came in the kit, I'll use those if at all.

Resistor, for your decals, try raiding an old aircraft kit if you have one, or if you need, let me know. I have a whole box of extras from just about everything and could probably cobble up some markings for you. Let me know wha you want. "Q"

I've been looking at my refences and I'm leaning towards either black and white crosses only on both sides, or numbers only on both sides. From the pictures I have, the crosses really look as if they were applied in the field rather haphazardly. The numbers look more "production" or standardized.

The other thing I am going to do is get rid of the MG ring and replace it with styrene, scratch a mg mount and buy a set of the Tamiya figures so I an steal the mg-34 for this project.

Funny how when you think your close to being finished, your that much further away from completion.

Red4, thanks for the offer. Have you got any crosses on hand in you spares?

Insert Dr. Evil voice here......"One Meeelion dollars" Just shoot me a PM with your address and were good. They're just decals and I have more than I legally need. "Q"
ps. Also tell me what you want, Numbers, crosses, both etc. The only thing I might have trouble locating are divisional/unit markings. Crosses and numbers aren't a problem.

Resistor,

A great looking Tiger!

To make it look better eschew Bandai/Fuman's tools, they are awful. Go to your model railroad supplier and buy O scale--1/48--tools, like these:

These are from O scale model railroad maker Berkshire Valley. White metal, I left one unprimed. The tan pieces are from the Bandai 1/48 Tiger. This is a good example of hobby-crossover.

Prior comments about paint scheme, weathering, etc. are good advice. I have a nit-picky trivia that many Tiger fans miss. All of the Porsche turreted Tigers wore zimmerit. A Royal Tiger's royal pain in 1/48 I did so with mine:
1/48 Zimmerit Tiger II

Decals? At the National Model Railroader Assoc. national convention week before last, I talked to the Micro Scale rep who told me they would soon reprint 1/48 AFV decals Otherwise, Gasoline, etc., are good, too.

I await seeing your finished tank, with or without our constructive critiques.
