hey all! i have just completed the hull to the m18 and m36b1 and began to build the turret and made some weld seams! They are not perfect , but okay my first try! I have made some sandbags to the m18 also my first try! They are made for to cover the missing lightguards i ruined!
they are both airbrushed with tamiya olive drab( also my first try) and weathered with pastels!
hull m3b1

trans cover! i have found a substitute machine gun!

my m18

any comments or hints! i know that the decals are missing, working on some decals!

Hi..

The painting and weathering look pretty good You have a nice used effect..

only thing I can see is to me your sandbags look way too big... i'm compareing them to photo's I have in my book of shermans and various TD's with sandbags. and on your model they just don't look to scale..

The ones in the photo's appear much flatter and thinner laying on the armor.. and not as big..

just my 2 cents worth..

btw what kind and color of pastels did you use....

Nice weathering. If you building a WWII M36 then the exhaust needs to be changed from the late (Italeri) to the earlier type (Tamiya). Are you going to fix up the turret interior? Keep up the good work!

Daniel
Looking great so far If you have the Tamiya early M4 Sherman it comes with the M4A3 exhaust deflector You won't need it for the M4

Daniel,I like the build on both vehicles their looking good.Only one thing that bothers me i ve been doing a lot of reading on open turret vehicles, would the floor of the fighting compartment be white, what a glorious target for a dive bomber, IMHO im sure it would be O.D. like the inside of the drivers hatches please dont let this distract from two good builds.

Easy co: I Just followed the instructions! And what i have seen of Reference of the m36b1 is very litte! So i Just painted after the box art! I think i can recal that it is the same with Acadamys! But yes you are right! and it must have been a problem with the us tank destroyers back then! :-)

This is what I'd always thought... a couple of washes with OD (I like Humbrol 155 for this) and then dry brush a bit bare metal over the high poins and then through in a 'dirt' wash. Pretty quick and painless, but it looks the part. Hope that helps
