This is my first entry in this campaign - I trained on the 105mm L5 Pack-Howitzer before using the Abbott SP gun. The model started off as an old (1st version) Britains cast toy which I bought on Ebay in a delapidated condition. It now looks like this !
The original gun, with trail extensions fitted
The model as bought:

The wheels that I used are off of a small truck, and are within 2 scale inches of the real thing (best match in my spares box as the original wheels were too small and had no detail). Here's a list of the mods:
Replace single axle with stubs
Replace wheels
Breech opening handle filed off and replaced
Sights added, both indirect - (my job, left hand side) and direct
Shield bracing added
Details added on trail - still not great but at least it's there
New muzzle from cut down tank barrel
Muzzle brake added from milliput - the one you see is the best of three attempts!
Thanks for comenting.
PS: it's 1/32 scale

Nice work Dave, particularly seeing what you had to start with.
It has brought back a lot of memories as I too started in a Pack Howitzer regiment before going on to Abbot via the 25 pdr. I was in 2 Light Rgt at Colchester in '65.
Used the L5 with 24 Depot & Training at Woolwich (Alamein troop) 1974- hence the clean condition of the model!
