Hello fellow tank destroyer builders. Just thought i'd post an update to show that I'm still in the game.
Lower Hull mostly finished, hatchs are ready but will be in the open postion . Running gear and transmission cover are base coated and had their first oil wash. and ready for more detail painting work when rest is painted.
The kit came with T49 3 bar cleat track but most of the photo's of U.S. M-10's in my reference books show them with the Flat rubber T41 or T51 track or the Rubber chevron T48 track. I'm using the T48 Chevron rubber track from the Tamiya kit # 35250 M4A3 Sherman 75 mm Gun Late Production. As you can see it is pretty much a perfect fit. It will be a little snugger once I glue the ends together.
now off to work on the turrent.....
btw sanding and glueing all those bolt heads was a **** in the *** but thats another story.. good thing they give you extra because it seems like each one has to take a visit to Mr Floor during the sanding processes.

Nice build Delbert , tell me how are you going to adapt the hatch hinges Im doing the same kit and they are not made for correct open hatches, I havent got a clue where to start I had thought of cutting and repositioning them.

I'm building the same kit. Yours is coming along pretty good. I'm leaving the hatches closed, even though I'd like to be able to see down inside since I've painted the interior.

hello all
I just thought I'd show what progress I have made on the drivers hatchs..
as some may know i'm mostly an OOB model builder though I'm always working on improving my skills so you won't see me doing any major scratch building... yet..
here is a photo of what i've got so far..
as you can see in the photo (blurry i know) the hatchs are suppose to be at a very steep angle when open.. the model is made so that the hatchs lay rather flatish..
so in order to get a more realistic look with the hatchs open I had to figure out how to get them at a much steeper angle..
so I used a tea light (candle) to heat the hinges on the hatchs very slowly and bend them a little more at an angle.. untill I got them to stand up better... too much heat will really mess em up so i've had to be very carefull.. and i'll have to sand one of them back into a more proper shape... its best to heat lightly... twist a little.. heat a little more.. ect..
They are not quite standing up at the exact angle.. but it does give it a better look..
as for the corner angle of the hatch the one one the model is a bit more than what the actual vehicle had.. but I don't see a way of fixing that to easy so i'll leave the shape alone.. on this one........lol
btw.. I just test fitted my turrent peices... front sides and rear peice as I was worried about the fit and the darn things are a perfect fit.. at least on the dry run they are...lol

Thanks for the info onthe hatches delbert, I put my turret together last night the right hand side came up short so i had to push it forward and use filler where it meets the rear turret piece. This is a nice detailed kit but ive had heaps of problems with it , Im like you o.o.t.b. modeller I hate kit bashing.
