Well, finished my first Marder III. Not super happy with the end result of the white wash I did, didn't want to do it in German Grey so I thought I'd try a white wash. I was worried I'd make a mess by using thinned paint so I tried using white pastels instead. First time trying a white wash so I learned a lot so next time will hopefully be better. lol Wanted to make it look field worn and well weathered, doesn't match the picture I had in my head but maybe next time.

I think you have a very well done model. You should be happy with the result. I agree Francoise that a snowy base presantation of this marder would look great.

Moe -
I think this build is really excellent. You've captured the feel of a "veteran" Marder III with your details. The weathering and detailing bring this out very effectively. Remember, the "white wash" camo deal was field applied, so the troops used whatever they could and did the best they could often in hurried and battle conditions. I think that too "neat" or "careful" a white wash application would be less accurate and authentic looking. You've got an outstanding build. Now, like the others have said you need to get this into a winter, snowy dio with some crew. Great job.

Ola Moezilla,
Looks like a great tank. The only nithpick is, weather the tracks.
Gave it a muddy effect becouse it is snow. And in a snow scene is it alway muddy, esspecially if there are many vehicle's on one road.
Well my7 withe wash is not as good as yours
Bye Hilbert

Thanks for the kind words guys, been away from the keyboard all day and appreciate the critiques and suggestions. You guys are right about getting it into a snowy dio, I wanted to get the Marder done first and then I'll work on the figs and a layout for a base idea. The vehicle is "done" for the most part but the dio it'll go into will make it change.
You're right about the weathering Hilbert, I left the wheels alone for now because I'm not sure of the dio yet. Want to work that out before weathering with mud so it flows better with the scene.
You're right Mike, the paint job was field applied so it doesn't look all that bad I guess. lol I think the main problem I had was I have the pic in my head from the Tamiya site of this kit done in white wash. Didn't want mine to look like that but something in between this and that picture.

We are our own worst critics aren't we? I think it's a fine example. Nothing seems overdone. I think you've brought out the detail very well.

Nice build,
the white wash doesnt seem at all bad from what i can see.
Might be the flash from your camera but is the cross on the rear brighter than your other markings?

I'll double check on that when I get home Martin, I can't recall at the moment if it is brighter. Come to think of it, I think that back decal didn't get a light coating of pastels like the others did, probably why it sticks out more than the others. Will double check when I get home but I'm pretty sure you are correct on that.
