I've finished my Academy M10 and have posted four (4) pictures in the 'Tank Destoyer' Photo Album. I'd try posting them here, but I can never get them to load. Go take a look and let me know what you think. The pics are a bit fuzzy. Me and the camera ain't getting along either. I don't weather my tanks so it's a "clean" build.

Great looking M10. I always thought that gun looked powerful on that hull with the M4 style bottom. 90mm is certainly much bigger that the Sherman 75 or 76mm on that style hull

Hey Tony!

Very nice model indeed, I do like it very much.
Sometimes it's refreshing to see such a clean model.

Those brass shelves, are they really brass?

No, they are painted with Testor's regular gold spray paint. They actually look better in person. I was pleased with how they turned out. Alan, I appreciate the photo assist. Thanks for the kind words. I don't think it turned out too bad. I know weathering it would help add to its realism, but I just like 'em plain.

If this an M-10, I think that would be a 3 inch gun. The 90 mm was the M-36 IIRC. Nice clean build though.

Cheers

Yeah, Henk I think you are correct. I believe the M10 had a 76mm gun. They tried to mount a 90 mm in the M10's turret but it wouldn't work. A new turret was developed and mounted on an M4 chassis, thus the M36 Jackson. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong. My girlfriend tells me that's the case more often than not. :-) :-)

A very Nice clean build there Tony.

As for the photo's If your using micro mode (for close ups') and holding the camera while taking the photo's you will get a some blurring from the motion of your hands. I always take my pics using the camera's timer and a 6" mini tri-pod.. ( they are fairly cheap)

And yes the M10 had a 3 inch gun (76mm gun) and could fire HP as well as Ap rounds. In the M10 it had a lot of Balance issues with the turrent which is why they kept redesigning it.. The 90mm used in the M36 fit into the M10 turrent with no Major problem's but was about 300 lbs heavier than the 3 inch gun. which would hare required more counterweights. But with the existing M10 turrent the 90mm and the fact that the 90mm ammo was larger fewer rounds could be carried so they decided to design a brand new turrent in order to carry more ammo.

Wow! It's so clean. Hope I can do models as clean as that. Love the brass shells. Congratulations

Thanks for the last two compliments. I appreciate it. While I like a "clean" build, most don't. I understand that the weathering and dirtying is a great way to display your models and talents, I just like mine plain. Thanks again.
