OK guys, what am I doing wrong? There are times that I think it looks right, others when I think it's over worked, and others when I think it's not enough...Something looks not right, like I'm not pulling it all together.
HELP!

Look s all right to me, nothing stands out and shouts 'Ahhhhh' - my own MkIV & Whippet are still at the 'just painted' stage, can't decide how to finish them off!

Just one thing, maybe you could drill the ends of barrels a little? It's easy and will improve the looks and realism

Yeah I was bothered by that as well. I planned to do so, but then I'd forgotten to do it and glued them in place. I'm not sure if I can do it without breaking them off now.
Do you think I should make it look more dusty..dirty?

Hey Steve!
I like the model very much and I think the overall painting, shadowing and weathering is very good.
There are 2 things that could make your dio and tank look more right (IMHO):
1) It's a heavy vehicel and WW1 frontlines were mostly very muddy. The tank would sink in the mud a bit more
2) mud on the hull following the contours of the track; on the lower side more than on the top side. And offcourse mud on the tracks itself. (same mudcolour as on the dio itself)
Some pictures I found on http://mailer.fsu.edu/~akirk/tanks/GreatBritain/BritishHeavyTanks.html that could help:

Thanks Paul for the photos and the kind words! What would you or anyone else recommend using for the mud on the tank? I guess I could use the same material as the ground work, I guess it's fine grained enough that it wouoldn't look out of place.
Thanks again
Steve

Hi Steve,
I think the material of the groundwork will look good if it is indeed fine grained enough and added subtle.
Perhaps you can make a mixture of it with white glue?
Using it will blend the tank in it's dio through the colour and structure of the material.
Perhaps a little drybrushed on some places to gain the effect of parts with dried up mud.
You can experiment a little on the bottom of the tank.
Succes!
