Hey guys,

This is the DML T-34/85. It is built OOB. It is weathered with pastels.

Unfortunately, the decals ever so slightly silvered. I suppose it is difficult to use water slide on the textured turret. Maybe in person the silverting does not show so much as with a photo using lots of lighting. I chickened out trying to use waterslide on my DML T-34/85 and went with Archer dry transfers.

The weathering is interesting. I would try to add some more brown to the rusted tracks. Maybe a wash of raw umber. It seems a little too red to me. Plus, unless you are depicting a tank that has been sitting awhile, I don't think the tracks would look that rusted. It's a matter of taste though.

I like T34s and this is a nice one.

It looks nice, but i agree on the decals and especially on the tracks, too red, a wash and some pastels dusting should do the trick.

all other things are very nice!

Yeah, the decals silvered alot. I plan to strip them later and use some dry transfers. The tracks aren't really that red in reality, and it has alot of steel showing through.

Nice weathering, although I must echo the others that the tracks are too rusty. In fact, I've read that Soviet tracks (at least of WWII vintage) didn't rust as much as others (I think it is because of unusually high manganese content, but my memory is fuzzy on that). Anyway, I've seen it recommended that they should be a dark brown with very little rust showing.

as I'm building the same kit right now, the first thing that stood out to me is that you haven't attached the 2 little hooks above the main towing cable hooks on the glacis plate (you can see the small rectangular indentations for the part's locations) and also you've not added all 5 track links to the front either so you can see the locating holes for that too.

There seem to be a few bits of nice detail missing that were in the kit. Did you just not want to put them on?

I'm curious because like I said, I'm building this exact kit right now!!!

Yeah, I just notice those things too. I built this kit way back when, when I still thought I could paint those things on the sprue. I need to attach them. I boxed this up for a while because I botched a salt-paint-chip paintjob. Thats what the little white things are :-)

I agree with the others about the color of rusting on the track and spare track. I do like the weathering effects especially on top of the turret.
Don't forget to paint the machine gun barrell, it looks green in the photos.

That, and the missing details are fixed. the spare track links, and the showing parts on the tracks were painted steel and then a heavily covered with a dark brown pastel applied with water. The effect, at least to my eye, is much better than before.
