Hi my friends,
I'm still working on my T-62 with the Verlinden kit and I wanted to share some pics. As you can see many, many things needs to be done. I think I'm only on 10% on the whole build
Well, I have to say that the Verlinden is a real pain in the *ss because many things doesn't fit properly. Well, that's not a reall problem though but they made also some mistakes in the build manual, switching some parts like the numbers on the support brackets on the fenders. (is that the right word for it? brackets? )
I'm planning to make a destroyed vehicle but I haven't a clue yet which damage etc I want to create. There will be some Fruils and Modelpoint ammo in the turret and in the hull but I still need to order them. Quite brole at the moment, hehehe. Well, I hope you like the result sofar
Cheers!
Jurjen

Do you have a sketch on how the dio would look like?
Perhaps determining how extensive a damage you would like to apply to the T62 would help as well...ie: direct hit from another tank?

Hmmm....this looks like a scene from "The Beast of War."
Haha, your are right. This movie inspired me to make a rocky landscape. The scene that the women blow up the rocks which will knock out the tank is really impressive.
@ Jazzy: I haven't a plan yet but a want to do a turret which has been blown of and some minor damage to the tank itself. The engine hatch must be blown of to because otherwise you won't see anything from the interior But the problem is, I don't want to make a burnt out tank. At least,...I'm still doubting. Do you guys and girls have any ideas what to make?
Thanks for your kind replies!

For a tank to lose its turret, it usually requires some form of explosion which leads to fire. Ammo cooking off, TOW missile, HEAT round etc. I saw a lot of Iraqi armor that we popped the turrets on and not a single one was without fire damage. An idea for you though.....
Droop the maingun as far as it will go. The engine cover (hatch) could be setting off to one side of the tank on the ground or on the back deck. Run a few wires here and there in the engine compartment, as it doesn't need to be really neat (They burn up anyway). Several shades of rust, black, brown and you have one knocked out T-62, but with very little fire damage. Could have been a direct shot into the engine compartment causing the fire. Scatter a couple of fire extinguishers and equipment around and viola'. The tank was hit in the engine area causing a fire. The crew got out to fight the fire making a mess in the process and in the end had to abandon the tank. I'd have to play with it to get it right for me. Just going off the top of my head at this point. Hope this gives you some ideas. "Q"

I like the popped off turret idea, simply because of the Verlinden turret discrepancies. It may be that they chose to make it a true 1/35 when the kit is not, or that they just goofed, but the end result is a turret, however correct it may be, that is too narrow for the hull. It looks way too small when sitting on the tank. If you have the turret beside the tank, it'll be a more dynamic dio anyway, maybe even with the gun out of battery, although that's admittedly nearly impossible with the metal barrel you already have.

Hi Matthew,
Thanks mate, I guess fire damage is essential but I'm a bit afraid of making fire damage to the turret interior. Could it be possible that a shot between the turret and the hull can lift up the turret from it's base without any fire damage? I think I will do fire damage to the motorcompartment though
@18Bravo: You're right about the turret. It is a copy from the Tamiya one which is a few milimeter to small. About 3mm. I want to make the turret blew off so that you can more interior and exactly what you say, the dio would be more dynamic.
I'm going to start now on the dio itself, finishing the base and add some small vegetation. I will keep you updated!
Cheers!

wonderful idea. do you plan on putting some mangled or maimed bodies around the tank or perhaps a medical team pulling bodies? also have you considered using fire to soften the plastic to create dents or bend the cannon a bit?

Look forward to seeing your progress. I started the same thing about a year ago. I got bored with it very quickly. It is about as far as yours is. I will wait to see yours posts before deciding if it comes back to the workbench.
