Another excellent piece of work. I like it a lot. Did you scratchbuild this tower? What did you use for the fence?

I think this is a pretty cool scene. What did you use for the roof? and only one nit pick i see, the boards for the guard tower need a few nail holes. You can just use a pin and dnet the wood to simulate this. Great job! Cheers Kevin

I like the guard tower as well, and indeed the whole idea for the scene. Only nitpcik I have is that the mesh on the fence looks a touch large to my eye

I like the little line of death inside the yard.

i scratch built the tower from balsa wood and popcicle sticks. the roof is evergreen plastics lath siding that i cut to make sure the "shingles" would fall in the right direction. the spot light is *cough* part of a hairspray cap*cough* and putty and more plastic for the bracket .

the fence is made from birch twigs to simulate tree poles. hand made barbed wire, and the mesh that protects gerber daisies( i cut the tube and layed the mesh flat and stretched it out, added silver and flat brown paint. as it dried it stayed flat ).

i never even thought of the nail holes!!! i'll have to add some.

ripster - it is a little too big. the holes are larger than a man's hand, but not big enough for someone to scootch through. i probably should have attempted making some fencing using the 34 gauge wire that i used for the barbed wire at the top.

thanks for all the comments!!!

A superb piece of work GI_Babycakes. It will look awesome with a couple of inmates. You could recreate the scene in the Great Escape where Steve McQueen had thrown his baseball by the fence :-).

Well Bethyn in my discussions with GI Babycakes that is exactly the scene she started. Her Steve McQueen figure arrived late which is why she had to take the extension.

Looks good!
Indeed a few inmates and the scene is complete,
it also reminds me of Colditz and Great Escape movies...
Great work!

GI Bc this is a great piece of work!
1) I think this could be modelled by others and not have the same success- you have done it great justice
2) The fact you have chosen a rarely modelled scene, but nonetheless one all would be familiar with- Bravo
Cheers

thanks so much for the encouragement it makes me feel better about this project. However, I am going to call it done. I know it's a matter of just adding a few figures, but this week has brought about a personal issue where modelling might have to take a back seat for a bit. If at a later date I add figures to the scene, i'll post it here.
