Well Hi guys, I hope you ALL had a very good Christmas and I hope everybody is fully set for a great New Year
So, this is what I have been working on. After thinking it would be a quick job with a few rivets ect replaced, I found out that hthe early ones used dome rivets and the later Mk 2 on (? still not sure) used the flat dome type !!.
So !! replace them all !! (you all know why I made that choice I think )
So here it is, Hull joints filled and mantlet filled and shaped with WAX-Putty system (Rai-Ro Germany), Edward Etch, Rivets/Bolts with "The Nutter", Rod and scrap etc ect.
Air Filters now changed and Hull rear plate rivets layout changed since photo taken

Its fantastic , i love WW2 British armour.
I dont think i would have the patience to redo all those rivets , but it does look really effective
The bren gun mount looks great too.
Looking forward to seeing it finshed , keep us posted

Alasdair!!Nice job on the Bren AA rig.It is named after the designer but I can't remember at the moment(rum&Coke Fog) .The Crusader crews hated it as it was ridulously complicated and took forever to erect.Wouldn't scare a fly,let alone a FW-190 tank popper pilot. :-).Anyhow,when I built my MkI/II,all of my ref pics had the spotlight on the tank's starboard side and IIRC the AA mount was to port Hope I am "lost in the fog" on this my friend!
cheers!

Hi Alasdair,
Very nicely done! Please bear with my questions...
Way the auxillary turret scratchmade? Or was this a kit? If so who makes it?
Also, great job on the AA gun rig. Please share with us how you made it.... pretty please... :-)
The Nutter really seems worth it's weight... excellent find!
Looking forward to seeing more!
Rudi

Alasdair, brilliant! The uniformity of the rivets would be hard to achieve, if not impossible, with anything but the Nutter. Hope you make a killing! :-)

Cheers for the comments guys
In relation to the MG and the spot light, got it corrected now That will teach me to use a "reversed" pic and not check twice or even thrice !!
The MG mount.
I used two brass rods, WAX-Putty to build up the joints (then carved back), these I just detailed later, I used AFV Modeller Mag 21/22 as the refs mainly with great help of the forums, web pics for the rest.
Cheers for the good luck Vinnie.
Alasdair
HAPPY NEW YEAR

Greetings AJ,
Really neat rivet and Bren Gun mount work.
I've been playing with the Mk 1 on and off for about a year now. A couple things I found that I added to mine is a round access hatch towards the left side of the rear of the turret and five large conical rivets staggered across the rear of the turret. Also, the Mk 1's only had two of the fender mounted stowage bins.
I'd send a pic, but my ancient Sony camera uses Floppys and the new "puter" doesn't have a floppy drive.
Luckily, I had printed out the pics I needed of the turret before the old "puter" expired!
Thanks for posting, as I took another look at the photo and discoverd I had made a major error concerning the antenna mount. As soon as I fix that, I can paint the beastie!

Cheers Fred
I have left the rear boxes on (in one pic I have), Have looked on my refs for this hatch (old radio set up ??, and check your not using the Mk 1 thats in Aussie) but, have you a pic of this ??
I changed the rivets as the early Mk1s hand dome type and the late Mk1s had the Flat Head dome type !! (that was new to me )
More pics soon

Hi there,
looks great - I have no idea about the rivets. The Bren AA must have been tricky.
It should look great when finished - that's dedication.
