Hello lads.
This is my rendition of the Trumpeter 1/35 M1a1 almost complete. It sat on my display shelf sort of finished in desert camo when I decided to repaint it and attempt to finish it.
I have read alot of stories on the M1, which is better and which is not but this was all I could afford at the time.
I know it's not accurate in detail but I did add some scratch things to try and improve it.
I still have some minor weathering to do and add a bit of stowage, but I am happy so far with the result.
. There are alot of good modellers here and your comments are most welcome and I am sorry for (not another M1 kit)

Looks pretty good. Looks like the old Academy kit though (barrel too short and fat, T-156 track, rear sprocket lacking center hub, short M1turret, etc.), not Trumpeter's, which is a pretty good rendition with only a few issues. A couple pointers to improve it. The CIPs on the turret front should not be painted camo. They are either dark green or sand with velcro "L"s on each corner. The side CIPs should also be either dark green or sand as well. Commander's and driver's periscopes should be a gloss black color, preferable coated with clear red to replicate the anti-laser coating as well. You could also drill out the towing points on the lower front and rear of the hull. Looks pretty good overall, a few tweaks and it will be great. Good job on the camo paint job.

Dan,
Very nice. Look's like an M1 to me. You did a good job with the kit. Guy's like Gino, who have firsthand knowlege, can always help you make a kit better. That's one of the great things about Armorama.
Nice work.
Chuck

Thanks for the comments Gino and Chuck.
It's funny when you think you have completed things and low and behold you hav'nt.
I will complete these tid bits Gino and finish of the weathering and post more pics later.
One last q do many people use photo film placed over the vision blocks instead of painting.
Cheers lads

Some use that technique as well. I prefer the paint method. Either will work though. Last bit of advice is to add the two antennasion the rear of the turret as well. They should be 2 3/4" long.
Show us more pics when you get done.
