Hey Clanky,
After seeing the pictures of your "12 Hour Spitfire" you built..........I wouldn't worry about timelines!
If I had half your talent, and a fraction of your speed, I'd be broke in a week and dead from paint/glue fumes in a month. :-)

Thanks Hermon,
The problem I have is staying focused. I seem to get sidetracked too often, 3/4ths of my collection has been started....

Hi everyone,
I progressed a little farther since my last photo of the
P-40E. The kit is OOB but I did drill out the gun barrels and the ring sight. While painting I broke a landing gear and had to fix it. It also survived an attempt by my son to play with it .
The worst thing about this kit in my opinion so far is the landing gear are kinda flimsy. If I ever build another duplicate kit I will leave them off until the very end.
This is the part of model building I like the most, "Painting and marking phase"
I do need to work on my photo quality they never look as good on the forum as they do at home.

Hey guys
All you guys that are finished way early, pat on the back but we have a few months before the shame files need to be thought off.
I'm still going with the F-4E, its a really horrible kit though and I have to keep reminding myself that I'm building it to practice airbrushing Euro 1 before letting myself loose on one of the good kits.
I will be moving house soon so that is going to put things on hold for a couple of weeks.
Will try to get some pics up soon. Again excellent job to all those who have finished.
Cheers

Sorry for posting so late...This is my entry, Italeri's 1/35 AH-1W Cobra. Also will be using Cobra Company's 'whisky in the mix' decals. My plans are to do as much scratchbuilding as possible. Progress photos to be followed.

For my enty I wanted to detail my Cobra as much as possible. I decieded to make mine un-armed. I made the TOW missile launchers and the 7 shot rocket pods, and drilled out the chaff/flare dispensers.Cockpit was updated, and scribed in a few missing panel lines. Scratched the modified oil cooler on the bottom of fuselage. Had to re-line and add rivet detail due to putty and sanding. Tail and main rotor system will recive the same treatments.

I plan on starting and finishing my Spitfire tomorrow (Sat). It's our clubs annual 12 hr build, and I'm selfishly using it to complete this campaign. I'll post some photos on Sunday of the Grey Nurse.

Hi all!
Brian, I can't wait to see your P-40 finished! I like the nice sharkmouth of it! :-)
Roderick, reading instructions is very important before starting a kit! by the way, did you read the "read before" instructions of your kit?
Franck, do you mean you will build a model in 12 hours That's something I want to see... do you a have a livecam?
Number 12 and 13 are coming in!
Jean-Luc

I don't read this thread for about a week and i miss loads. There is some brilliant builds finished already and Joe, i can't wait to see your finished helo.
Hunter, that is a brilliant Crusader you have got there, my favorite of the campaign at the moment. Definitely one to be proud of.

No live cam, sorry. The 12 hr club build is something we do once a year. We all get together ( between 7 to 9 of us) and start a model from an unopened kit and attempt to complete it in 12 hours. It requires a bit of preparation, masking sets for the canopy, prepared camo scheme masks. It's a lot of fun for the first 7 hours, and then it's usually panic mode for the remaining 5. My previous builds have been a 48th Rufe, a 48th Swiss Emil, and last years 48th Mk V tropical Spit. I'll post some photos on Sunday, after I've recuperated from the toxic fumes! There should be at least 4 aircraft worked on this year.
Here's a few shots of last years effort...

Clanky,
When you're done taking pictures would you please send my Spitfire back to me?
I haven't been keeping track of this thread either lately but I can see I've missed some really great planes....and helo's. Almost wish I hadn't rushed through mine so quickly.

Hi all!
Frank, I suppose you will be using acrylics for the 12 hours build. This is a great idea and could be attempted here at Armorama one day... say a 24 hours build (I've heard some don't like to work in the middle of the night :-) ) Maybe this could be a way to help (put name here) actually finishing a kit!
Andy, I agree with what you said about Hunter's Crusader!
Hermon, there are still four month to make a second one!
Jean-Luc

Strictly acrylics, come of the guys use Alclad and S&J for metallizers ( which really stink up the room! ) The biggest problem we have is sharing the paint booth. We also do a 24hr LeMans build while watching the race. That is 24 hours of hell. Last year I had an allergic reaction to the resin I was using ( Fisher Porsche 908 long tail) and ended up a DNF as I violently sneezed through the last 4 hours!
wish me luck, we start at 0830 this morning....

Hi everyone,
Thanks for the compliments on my P-40E. I was able to get another coat of gloss to seal the decals this morning.
I can't compete with Frank for the 12 hour finish. I'm taking my son to a birthday party in three hours but I do hope to apply a wash on the model tonight after he goes to bed.
This is going to be a first for me as I plan on trying his water color paint as the wash medium. I just thought I would try something different and see what happens.
Sincerely,
Brian

Well I'm back, my 12 hour club build went well but not well enough to complete the Grey Nurse Mk VIII Spit.... I did the tamiya Mk V last year and thought I could repeat it with the Hasegawa offering. I had difficulties with the model from the get-go. wing root fit issues, which complicated matters. In the end, I managed to complete the model and, paint the majority of it. I will try and decal the model on Sunday, (at my leisure!) and hopefully have it completed early next week.
Here are a few photos of today's marathon...

Hi Joe,
Can't wait to see your paint scheme "With Nasty Sharp Pointy Teeth" ( A Little Monty Python there) You are the "King" of helicopters in my book.
Hi Frank,
Sorry you could not finish today but "Wow" you did get much accomplished. I look forward to seeing the end result.
Sincerely,
Brian

Hi Joe and Frank!
Nice in-progress pictures!
I'm looking forward to see both models finished soon! Joe, the extra details really enhance the look of your model! Great job! Frank, I like the paintjob and the instrument panel is awsome (OOB?)... and you also revealed us the secret for doing your camouflage on the wings: pre-cut wavy masking tape! Thanks for sharing this idea...
You really made me want to try a 12 hour build myself...
