well the last 3 days have been hectic and a good run of progress on this model has been done with no holdups for once. As the weather is very hot (35C plus most days) I have been sitting in the Airconed model room and loving it! :-)

OK here is my truck.

This is an Australian Army Chevrolet CMP (Canadian Military Pattern) cab 13 tipper. This picture shows one at work in Borneo in 1945 and I will do my model; as this truck.

Base kit is the Italeri Chevrolet 15cwt kit # 233. The rest is all scratch built. Kit chassis was lengthened by 24mm. (almost an inch for you folk in the US). Tamiya GMC wheels have been used from the spares box.

a shot from the front. Headlights are drilled out for lenses supplied to me by Grumpyoldman for Christmas. Grill will be a scratchbuilt brass mesh one.

side view. Grey primer was used to show any areas to be fixed up. Filler has to be used in some places and has yet to be done.

chassis top view. Still a few things to add/do on this as the tipper body comes closer to being finished.

The spare wheel/toolbox for behind the cab.

the start of the tipper body. Still a long way to go here. I was lucky enough to be able to measure and photograph a real tipper here in Australia a year or so ago.

Any and all comments welcomed.

cheers
Cliff

PS> sorry about the quality of the photos as they were done in a hurry as I really needed to sniff some more glue LOL

Cliff: You're off to another awesome build!

A couple questions -- was it usual for them to leave off the doors, as seen in the source photo? Also, any chance of you giving us some measurements on that bed and other mods? I've got an Italeri Chevy sitting on the shelf just aching to be converted ...

What kind of lift was there for the tipperbody? Hydraulic on the back of the frame?I suppose you will be plumbing that too?

in the later years of WW2 the doors were made of canvas with a flimsey steel frame or were not added at all due to shortages.

I will see what I can do to tidy up my rough drawings and put them up for anyone interested in them.

thanks for the comments

Cheers

Hey Cliff ...
Great build, as usual !!!
But note that 24mm isn't "almost" an inch, it is a bit over an inch ....

Same beauty as always Cliff. I honestly didn't know Italeri made a truck like this! I am wondering on the front right wheel well it looks like there is a seam? Other than that and the things you have mentioned, you are well on your way.

Thanks Jeff. The truck is accually OOP but is still availiable around the place along with a CMP gun tractor.

I think the seam you mention is meant to be there but rest assured I still have the filler to apply where needed and if it is not required it will get filled. LOL. You tend to see a lot more on that side due to the RH mudguard (fender) being missing. As the photo shows it missing on the Borneo truck I will not be adding it to the model.

Cheers
Cliff

PS> Jeff I am amazed and honoured to be doing a model that will sit alongside some of the quality ones that others are doing.
