A little break from the 'ole Olive Drab and VVSS suspension....
This is the DML BoB King Tiger. Build will be entirely OOB and I will use the 222 markings. I just finished painting the camo a while ago. WIll finish this kit by next week.
Question: Can I not put in the spots? It's shown in the manual. I think I may just ruin the camo if I put them in.

Great looking KT you've got there Ralph!!
I'm working on mine at the moment, and I enjoy every minute of it. I think if you want to build the 222 version it'll need a hard-edge camo and the dotted ambush-scheme.
I have some original photo's of that particular KT, so if you're interested in some scans, just PM me your e-mail adress, and some piccies will hit the Phillippine beaches in no-time!!
Keep us informed...

Thanks thanks! Well, I had some references that the 222 has some soft-edge camo. I have several close ups of the 222 and it really shows it has soft edge camo

Gday Ralph,
Very nice looking King so far. Mine is still in the box with just the welds done.
If you don't want to put the dots in don't. It will still be a great looking model. Have fun.
Cheers

Thanks guys! Am still having second thoughts on adding the spots or not. Anyways, some more inprogress shot:
And if your wandering, yep, that's a Jagdtiger on the side. Am having a King Tiger fever (OMG!) :-)

Ralph I have to agree with you that 222 is more soft edge rather than hard edged camo except on the right hand side of the turret which seems to have been repainted and it does look like a hard edge camo, but this is mostly hidden by the spare tracks....If I were you I'd add a few spots even if you are not trying to reproduce the exact scheme of 222 at least people will know that you did your homework ...

Thanks Rick! Will add the spots this Saturday. Question: how big would the spots be?

A quick tip for the spots.......
If you are planning to spray them and are worried about getting them too big or inconsistent.
I had good results using a paper mask with a hole or two cut in it. I held it maybe a couple mm from the surface while spraying.
Or you can just paint them by hand with a fine brush....
