In referance to the origon of this Armor piece.:
Is the cougar a decendant of the Mowag 6x6 or is this a vehicle based on the origonal LAV, with the second roadwheel position removed.
Also is the Cougar Hull shorter than the standard 8 wheel Lav.
Does anyone have any line drawings of the Cougar? Any help or assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanx in Advance.

Based on the Swiss Mowag design I believe. The Cougar is quite a bit smaller than the LAV.The Cougar was used by our Armoured Regiments, the Infantry used the Grizzly, which had a .50cal and a 7.62 GPMG in the turret, where as the Cougar had the 76mm main gun.
Hope this helps a bit

It is a descendant of the Mowag 6x6 (LAV Gen 1).
For line drawings, George Bradford used to offer a set through AFV News and I believe there is a side view in the History of the RCAC book.
If you have the coin, Hobbyfan makes one in resin for around $150 US.
Alternatively, you could kit-bash the trump LAV-25 + AFV Club Aussie FSV turret + Maple Leaf Models Michelin tires.
Folks on this DG might be able to help out with drawings & refs:

Trackjam models has the Hobby Fan kit for $150 CDN.
This is the Cougar I did for "Canuck Steel" last year.
The only thing add thats not in the kit are the tires, they are from Maple Leaf Models. The kit tires are the later wide ones that were found on the uparmoured vehicles.
The kit builds up quite nice,no major fit problems.
Drawings can be found at http://www.afvnews.ca/1-35g.html

P.S.
This is very true, there are a great bunch of guys that can help with anything modern CDN.

Jim, you have to tell us what colours you used on that Cougar; it has to be the best representation of Canadian 3-tone that I have ever seen.

Storm,I wish I could! I mixed colours by "eye ball 101".I used photos of the one in my gallery and went from there.

Open for correction ---there was an article in a mag last year --I think-----on convertion ---IIRC---I cut out ---12mm strip from behind the 2nd louvre on the top hull section and in front of the front spring hanger location on lower hull ---giving a "Z" shape----then rebuilt the section between the wheels ----it was a rush job ---not fully finished ---- was for a ""Cats "" theme build for a show the next day purely as a representation:_| :-)
Youcan see the "cut/butt-weld" through the paint on the side slope behind hatch and on top of hull as it was not "eased " properly in the rush--
The things we do---may go back to it some day ---(its a bang-bang)
aye
