Hi guys,

This is the beginning of my conversion from a Tamiya Churchill VII Crocodile to 'Bert',made famous by photographs, a Churchill III at Dieppe. The interior is almost done, it just lacks an instrument panel. It is scratchbuilt with parts from the Cromwell Models Churchill , Tamiya and Italeri. The turret is a recast of unknown origin. The roof was peppered with holes, hence the rough putty job. This will be covered with waterproffing material later. Apart from this, all of the conversion is scratchbuilt. Please note: the upper hull parts and the turret are just in place for the pics. Let me know what you think, positive or negative, as this is my first 'major' conversion.

Daniel

Looks great Daniel, very good work for a young modeller, puts me to shame!

Have you seen the stowage sketches here?

useful if you want to add any more to the interior. Check the rest of the site if you haven't already

Thanks for the comments guys.

David: that site is precisely what I have been using for reference. I've tinkered around, and most of what I've added to the interior won't be visible, so I think I'll leave it at that.
I hope to base coat and shade the interior today, but unfortunately, these Churchills were fairly new, so only a little weathering

Thanks,

Daniel

HOLY *&$#^^$%@ Daniel that is excellent work so far!!!

Are you sure you have the 1 and 4 the right way around

When I was 14 I couldn't wait to slap the kits and figures together - maybe hit them with some paint - and then get out in the dirt and battle with my mates and their kits. Certainly NOTHING like this conversion would have ever entered my head.

Keep it up.

Brian

Excellent work Daniel. I have the Osprey Modeling the Churchill book and some of your work is every bit as good as the work in the book on a similar tank.

While I'm biased and I don't like seeing Germans victorious over British, or Candians, I like your idea of the one figure holding up the Canadian helmet as a victory trophy. It tells a good story. Just next time have a German tank with a 17 pounder hole in it, ok?

Before finishing the turret, you could scrape off the US stamp moulded on the flare pistol holster
