Hi all,
Drawing to a close on this one, but I'm a bit stuck on the base. I was thinking of adding the two Dragon Military Policemen with their dogs, but I'm not sure now.. I'll be adding a small bit of (melting) snow, as the weathered winter camo indicates an early spring timing (does it, or is that just in my head? )
The grass is not finished, just trying out how it will look. The sleepers have had a black oil wash, which has brought out the grain nicer than the pics show. What would be a good colour for a final drybrush? I was thinking of Desert Yellow, or would that make them to light?
Any comments, or suggestions are as always positively encouraged...
Be gentle.... :-)
Henk

Thank you Ken, much appreciated.
I know what you mean about the sleepers being very dark, any drybrushing will be very light, just to bring out the raised grain ever so slightly. No cartoon weathering here.. .
Ahhh, those buffers... . The kit includes two decals (spit..) for those, but I remember reading an article in a magazine some years back which mentioned that the were both bad quality and incorrect.. Can't remember which magazine though, but I'm sure I have it somewhere in the house. ( My wife will confirm that, if left unchecked and to my own devizes, I would collect broken rubber bands, as you never know... :-) ). Anyway, the white bands are night recognition aids, and one should be thinner than the other. I have been unable to find any other references on the net ( stand by for multiple post giving links to a dozen relevant sites next... it always happens ) so I just went with wath I remembered and what I like the look of. This was (and is) a quick in between 'for fun' project, where absolute accuracy is not all that imporant. (Hmm, note to self, that would put most of your efforts in the 'for fun' category.. ).
In the next few days I'll finish the grass, and see if I can get that bl&&&dy sheppard dog to look like a Sheppard dog..
Cheers
Henk

No pointers on the Wagen. It looks great. However, I'd change the track color. A few weeks ago a guy posted a question about the color. I suggested a uniform light rust color, as that's what I recalled from my time in the DDR, where at the time they still used brown coal pretty extensively. I've come acress a photo in one of my German model railroad magazines that illustrates the color perfectly:
