I am building a Canadian M3A3 in Italy. Anyone has photos of these ?
I have found plenty of photos of Sherman and other vehicles but not of M3A3s

Ok I should have said Stuart V. I would like to do one of the Three Rivers Regiment reconnaissance troop in or around Ortona in December 1943.
Am I off the track?

The 3 Rivers should have had them in the Recce Troops, but they wouldn't have ventured into Ortona itself. The Shermans were having a hard enough time in Ortona and the Stuarts would have been chewed up badly and I'm pretty sure the unit commanders knew it. Outside Ortona and scouting arount, sure, but not inside.
Howzat?

Thank you very much Paul. That's what I thought but it's great to have confirmation.
Am I right in assuming that the markings would be a white "45" on a green and blue square for Reconnaissance and a gold maple leaf on a maroon rectangle?
Would the markings on the turret be in white?

Well, to be completely honets, it isn't really confirmation, I have no proof. Just my best guess and me remembering any photos I've seen. That's what I thought but it's great to have confirmation.

No, the Three Rivers were the second senior regiment in the 1st Cdn Armoured Brigade and its recce troop would wear the same tac sign as all the other vehicles in the reg't. I.e. a white 174 on a blue over brown square. The formation sign would be 1st Cdn Arm'd Bde of a gold leaf in a black/red/black square.
I believe the Recce troop was part of HQ Sqdn, so it would have a yellow diamond.
That the troop is used for recce doesn't determine the tac sign, it is the entire regiment's purpose, so all vehicles in an infantry division's recce regiment would have the 44 on blue over green regardless if they were arloured cars or the padre's tea wagon. :-)

Thank you very much again Paul! Boy, was I wrong!
Is there a book or an article somewhere that explains the Canadian markings? I find those quite hard to understand, but hey, I'm used to building planes...
