Hey guys,
This is my first REAL attept at a dio, being that it is the first one to have any sort of story, and I tried to make it a little humurous , as for me, those are the most memorable. The guy on the tank is supposed to be holding up a pair of mittens towards the guy standing at the base of the tank. The title of the dio is "Got Mit Uns". This was written on german belt buckle during ww2, and it looks and sounds like it says "got mittens?"
The Panzer II is the Tamiya kit. I'm thinking of replacing it with a kubel, as I think it takes too much room in the space, and I think it's a loittle overbearing over what should be the focus of the diorama, the two soldiers. I know if I do use the tank I need to put some snow on the tracks, but I'm sorta happy with the way it came out after the build (the dio was an afterthought) so I'll wait unil I'm sure I'm using the panzer before I add the snow.
Note that none of the figures are finished, or have a finished paint job on them. The one on the tank came from a Tamiya King Tiger, and I was't happy with the uniform, face, or just about anything on him, so I decided to try him again, with a different arm.

Yea, I know what it means, but it does LOOK and sound a bit like "got mittens"

David the tank is very well done with lots of fine painting work to show the weathering. While it does take up the whole base personally I think including it is still okay. Besides its would be a waste not to include it.
I'm afraid you lost me a bit on the title though. I understand the words are suppose to mean "God with us" as mentioned by Jeff but I have some trouble connecting it with the guys handing each other mittens even though it sounds that way. Sorry, it may be just my humor levels are a bit low on Monday.
Perhaps if the engine compartment was opened up and the guy was attempting to fix it and seeing as the engine was still hot requested a pair of mittens it may tie up the story a bit better. As for your title plaque maybe you could replace it with a pic of the buckle while retaining the mittens at the side.
All in all its still good work.

Its going to be great. The chipping and rust are great. If anything, I'd change the base and keep the vehicle. Pz II is an underappreciated tank.

The weathering looks really good.I think some white on the tracks would make it even better though. And I did get the joke.
Very nice indeed.

Gday Dave
The finer weathering of the tank is great, but as it is such a wee'un, the monotone of the mud on the road wheels overwhelms the whitewashed sections IMHO... Even if you could vary the mudded areas in tone (As Tony suggested maybe some white patches still showing through? Only if they whitewashed the runninggear though!...) Do think it's a little large for the base also...
Got the joke though no worries :-)

Hallo David,
I'm sorry , but your title has another problem (it's possible that you know it already and just left it out for the sake of your storyline), the german word for God is Gott with 2 t's.
So you may at least change the dio's name plate !
Cheers
