I used Tamiya acrylics for the colors and the dots were handbrushed.

i will weather it later...
i will try to put this vehicle on a small dio base. The base will be on tall grass field setting...

will add progress photos later

So far it looks like a nice start.I would drill a small hole in the towing mount on the rear, for a securing pin to go through.
Put the hole in the center, from top to bottom.Do you tool clips have the U shaped handle part? I can't see in the photographs. Are there other "things" that you will add?

Carl,
i plan to drill 2 hole inside the hull at the bottom and i will secure the kit to the base with 1 1/2 " countersunk screw...
The U shape have not yet put onto the hull. I will add a few more vehicle equipment set such as the jack, spare tracks, and some other standard stuff which i dont know the name, that came in the kit.
thanks for your comments Carl.

Another update:

home made base

home made casing

still in dry fitting stage to make sure it fit good.

incomplete base. the grass is not completed done. I need to touch up and add more of them. i already have some stock which already painted. and also woodlands tall grass to be added soon. this is how it look at the first stage.

done with cheap varnish brush

and dry fitting the flakpanzer to the base

i will add oil washes and weathered in later

thanks for viewing

Zaidi, your Kugelblitz is coming along very nicely, I look forward t see it weathered. Don't weather it to heavily, the Kugelblitz had a very short career... . I like the lack of battle damage for that reason. You are putting a lot of effort in your display case, something many of use would do well to take note of.. including me . I don't think your grass is finished yet, but as it is I'm not keen on it. Compared to the rest of the beautiful base it looks .. to artificial. I would suggest to go with short(er) grass. Just my two cents.

Looks good so far

Cheers

Henk,

thanks for your comments.
I will try to write an article about the homemade base that i did....
i agree with you that this tank will not be too weathred. I didnt plan to do any battle damage. only some wear and tear and dust/mud on the track.
I dont know if this kugelblitz ever experience any battle...

Henk, yes the grass is not finished yet. That's my initial trial run on the base using cheap brush as the grass. When i do the dry fitting, i found the grass is too tall. i already cut some of them by a few mm. In the photo i only 'planted' the grass is some areas... i plan to put the grass around the base and will use woodland static tall grass for the final work.

Coming along well Sil. There seems to be a bit of silvering on the decals which appear on the closeups. I suppose it won't be noticeable at the normal viewing distance or when you lightly weather the tank later.

Good progress thus far. Good luck to getting it done in time for the competition.

CK, what u saw at the decal is not the decal... it's maybe the reflection of the camera flash...
i put future at the decal surrounding area prior to decal..so that's i think caused the 'silvering'...

i had just put a flat coat over it which the problem is eliminated...

thanks old man

current update:

well not so many of them...and no pics

I accidently broken the base *&&^^&^ ..so i just made a new one...

the flakpanzer has been oil-washed and dusted...

nice work on the vehicle. i have to wonder about the air recognition flag though - the main reason for developing this vehicle was due to allied air superiority. with little chance of german aircraft looking for ground targets to attack, crews are not very likely to put big red "shoot me" signs on their tanks. I think that practice stopped (even on the east front) long before this vehicle would have been deployed. but then again, this vehicle borders on the "what if" realm anyway, so who's to say? perhaps the luftwaffe was back on the prowl in '46!

i have to agree with vanize, the flag does look out of place for a late-war vehicle. perhaps you can substitute it with crates or equipment on the engine deck, covered with tarp? however i like how you weather the lower hull, tracks and roadwheels... they look pretty good!

thanks for the comments vanize and mojimbo...

for realism, maybe you both are right...but i the flag will be there as this is my first try on the flag....

since it's experimental vehicle and was introduced in the late period of the war, maybe they never leave the factory and having the flag on top of it also means maybe they're in some 'tank show' for the Fuhrer!! ... hehe...

that's also a good reason to have a flag on the deck!

it's your model, so do it the way it pleases you.
