Guys,
Built the other weekend (OOTB) and painted last weekend. Since it is the basic Russian Big and Beefy, it is in the campaign.
Now, I need to find the right Archer decals and begin the wash's. I plan on using the LionMark KV Tracks - just because.
Care to comment on this lil diversion (while I work on my M4A3W 76mm), fore away....
Dave

Kitmaker won't let me see the pictures.
Don't worry about markings as KV-2s don't seem to have carried any. The only ones I have seen were added by the Germans after capture. There's one marked by the Regiment General Goring complete with date of capture. This was interpreted by someone making the box-top model for a resin conversion as Regiment General Boring, which gave me a laugh

The few cases where KV (IIs) were given markings in Soviet service were purely for propaganda purposes.
No Divisional, Company or Platoon markings were ever used in a 'standardized' form...

Dave and Jim, thanks for the "heads-up" and words on the markings. Yes, I am aware of these propoganda basis and just wanted to more decorate that big-ol side of armor. But I will see about just shading this more later.
right now, I am working on cleaning up the tracks while doing some of those "honey-dos" about the house. A trade for the time in the hobby room, but i am sure some of you know about these matters. That and my eBay deals are taking my free time.
As for the "KitMaker" log-in issue, I ahve found that if you use the same acoount information as Armorama, you will get in. But, for those who have not found out about this, here they are hosted by Village Photo:

Later,
Dave

Preshaded? How well did the fender braces snuggle up to the hull sides?

Carl, "preshadding...." yes, that is the best thing that I have done for years. I am not sure if there is a new term to do this, but the simple paint in one color and highlight panels (center then outward) with a lighter color is what I ahve been oing for years.
As for the braces, as long as the fenders are true (i.e. 90°) then there is no issues. I did reaize that I had a drop on one fender (while the glue was drying), but I caught this early enough and it was corrected.
Trumpeter has scored a great one with these KV kits. Well worth it and without the hassle of the Eduard brass fenders. Now, I have one fender set left (Eduard) and need to figure out what I will be doign with this.
Later,
Dave
