This here is my entry, "The Out Law" Guntruck. It's pretty much done with the exception of "The Out Law" missing on the side of the APC hull. Will add them on when I get them. Using AFV's M35A2 and Italeri's M923A1 trucks along with Tamiya's M113 APC hull. Painted in Model Masters flat black and dusted by airbrush with red earth and sand. My lighting is terrible, and one day I’ll be able to correct it. So please bear with me on these photos.

Looks mean Joe, real mean!
Love it, fantastic job on the truck and the Bucket, figure looks really nice as well.
Particularly like the stowage on top, and the details inside the M113 hull.
Cheers! another fine addition to the campaign

Sweet ride.
One way to beat the peak hour traffic blues
:-)
I like this one a lot mother - do you have any links to a real vehicle of this nature?
What did they do to the seuspension to be able support that kid of weight?

Great build Joe, looking good.
I know this was an actual vehicle, but I can't help wondering what the steering must have been like..
The wire to pull up the windshield armour is a great touch.

Cheers

Looks great Joe. Only thing I would change is the white hatches and back crew door/ramp. The interior of the hatches should be the original OD green color of the hull. Other than that, it looks great. Good conversion. Outlaw artwork on the side of the hull will look great too.

Good job. Gotta love them guntrucks. They just look mean.

Guntruck pics.

The suspensions were not modified at all. The stripped M113 and gear, ammo, etc. was just about 10,000 lb, which is the load capacity of the M54 5-ton truck.

Joe the Outlaw turned out beautiful. Willie would be proud to see this one (Wild Willie was NCOIC of the truck).

These combos were very hard to keep on the road. Many of them turned over in curves. This truck was destroyed and the APC was removed and a regular box was installed and renamed Outlaw II .

Why wouldn't they just keep the M113? Lack of speed? Very interesting field construction.

It was found that the double-walled box armor provided more protection against RPGs, which were becoming the preferred weapon of attack for the enemy. It is the same principle of the slat armor used today. By detonating the RPG on the outer wall, it dissipates and does not have the power to puch through the inner wall. It could easily penetrate the hull of an M113.

I like what I see. The one thing that kind of bugs me is the scattering of the ammo cans, especially the one by the APC driver hatch. If I were a gunner, I know I'd keep the ammo close to me and if I was in that armored turret, I wouldn't stick my hand over the side to pick it up as that is the nearest gun that the ammo is close to. Other than that, you did a bang-up job on this accurate piece.

Thanks all, I had a great time doing this one, and I’m in the works with a second. Not only did I enjoy building her, I also picked up a bit of more information about the gun trucks. Before I started her I had called Dave (animal) for some first hand advice, Dave was very much helpful and some. I had forgot to thank Dave in this post, my apologies Dave and thanks.

Gino as for the hatches and back crew door/ramp on this gun truck, they were painted white. Actually I missed painting in the ramps door frame in white.

Well Jeff the cans could be empty or even full and were just tossed up there, who knows.

I even know that just sitting up there and going down a road they’d never stay on. I pretty much threw them on for effect, but I wouldn’t let it bug you
