Here are some initial shots of my Tiger I. It is my first model in some 15 years. I am building it as no. 111 from an Archer sheet. I have used the Aber Initial set. A good deal of it will go unused, because I will not open up any hatches on this model. I have taken on more in this kit than any I did with any kit 15 years ago! All three pictures are of the turret wearing a coat of Mr. Surfacer from a can. I can't say I like to prime from a can. I had too much trouble controlling the thickness. I will use it from my airbrush from now on. I also think some of my details are a bit heavy, but I prefer to do it that way. I want to see the detail I have added. Please let me know what you think.

Can you get some closer shots? Something where you can focus in on the details? At first glance, it looks great.

One question - you used an Aber set - which parts are you using, the Dragon initial kit comes with quite a bit of PE. Did you intend to convert to an early or Tunisian Tiger? That is what I did with mine, before Dragon came out with the DAK Tiger themselves.

Thanks for the kind words. From the Aber set I used everything for the turret and hull with the exception of the hatch interiors. I didn't want to tackle too much on my re-initiation to modelling. I will try to provide some closer shots soon. I am still fiddling with my camera. I want to be able to highlight the detail and texture, but the shots look too washed out.

Eric, the turret looks good, from the little we can see. I too would like to see some 'closer' shots. I'm also very intrested in exactly what you replaced with Aber PE? The smoke grenade launchers in the original kit are already PE, and are superb, even the wiring is provided.

Eric,

Use the macro mode on your camera, and if the shot looks too washed out then use a lighter background. Try putting the grey turret on a light green, blue, or pink paper for less contrast. You could also try backing up a bit then zooming in if your camera will do this. Hope this helps.

Vinnie, any comment form you is welcome. Pictures of your work inspired me to try my hand again. I used the kit provided plastic brackets and tubes for the smoke grenade launchers. I used the smoke rounds provided in the kit to fill in the ends of the tubes, and then mounted everything on the Aber brackets. The level of detail on the mulitiple Aber parts is finer, but I guess you have to see it through the magnifier to appreiciate it. I didn't use the chains though, because even with a magnifier, I still couldn't see them. Thank you so much for your comments.

I will have to look at my camera to see if there is a macro setting. If not, I will try the zooming technique. My camera does this quite well. I will use a light blue piece of poster board on the next round of photos. Thanks.
