Greetings all,

Further to my previous posts on the M7 here are some update pictures on the changes I've made as a result of the feedback I had and the 'Top Vent' issue.

Thanks to everyone for all their help and suggestions, it's been a fun build. Several issues were raised and I've made changes where I felt there was enough evidence to warrent it.

The vehicle tries to represent 'BeBe' of B Bty, 34th Fd Bty, 14 Fd Regt Canadian Royal Artillery kitted for coming ashore at Nan Red Beach on D Day.

As always some issues arose about the vehicle marking and I've amended these where I felt it was appropriate. The 'top vent' issue changed the vehicle considerably. As no picture or diagram came to light I've added the trunking and internal vent in the fighting compartment as a best guess and given my llimited skills at scratching things.

I'll post a few more pictures in a moment.

Cheers and thanks again to eveyone who contributed in the previous posts and those who contacted me individually. So gents 'What You See Is What You Get!!!

Cheers

Al

Still looks great. It would make sense that the air intake would be rerouted into the interior so it could breath.

Hi Al

Might need some more Bostik

IIRC it was applied anywhere that was likely to leak, which means virtually every bolt.

Greetings all,

Mark, thanks again, unfortunately concensus has it that it wouldn't be appropriate given the seas and weather on D Day. However, it can happily wade ashore and as there is evidence of one sitting just to the left of the main landing area it would also be reasonably historically accuate. Looks llike Bren Carriers or a small Armoured Car for the LCM, but sure that's more fun!!

Bob, thanks for all your help. A pity I got it wrong first time around!! Really wanted to build this one before I go on holiday, hence the rush, but really should have taken longer over it, but then I might still be building it next year!! LOL.

Dave, again thanks for the help on the boat issue. Glad you like it, my first attempt at a conversion of any worth.

David, Hi - more PVA, tissue paper and black then? I haven't waterproofed the lights, just because I like them that way, but if I decide to do that I'll change them and use them in a N Africa version I'm thinking about trying. I really enjoyed this kit but prefer it in the earlly condition with stuff hanging off all over. LOL, LOL

Anyone got an old Grant they would like to contribute??? Ha, ha.

Thanks for all you comments and help throughout.

Cheers

Hi Al

I was thinking of more globs of black on the bolts holding the suspension on

I've got most of a Grant (minus the hull rear plate and associated bits) if you're interested. Which bits do you want?

Hi David,

Thanks for that, can do on the bolts etc - good point.

Re the Grant, would need the early suspension, lights, and bins from the back.

I have plenty of replacement wheels and the 3 piece transmission from my old Grant so should be ok for those parts. That would be great.

Cheers

I'll try and remember to find the bits later on this week I'll e-mail you beginning of next week to let you know as I'll be on leave the rest of this.

Got plenty of other Sherman junk too...

All the best

Great Build! You are quite builder Alan! Modest as well. I too like the crew figures it lends a bit of action to the big beast!

Hi Chris,

Thanks for that. I still haven't quite got it right. There should be no white bar under the AOS so that has been removed, and the Divisional Sign should be that of 3rd Canadian Infantry Division but as I don't have any of those at the moment, what's on will suffice for now.

There's a ? over the V shaped front water seal. The offical diagram shows something very similar but I've been told it should have a waterproofe jacket, but haven't yet seen a photo to confirm that, so for the time being it remains in place.

It's a fun build if you come across the kit and the N africa version is awesome ha ha.

Thanks again.

Cheers

Al
