Hello,
I would like to introduce the third model I buildt. It is a DUKW with 105mm Howitzer. It is the Italerie Kit in 1/35th scale. The building process was alright. The parts fit pretty well. This is one of three other vehicles I am going to put on my D-Day Diorama which is in progress right now.
I would appreciate yall's opinion on it.

I hope it is noticebale, I tried to simulate some wear on the tires and rims using a knife.
Again, some damage to teh rims and tires.
My first attempst to create wear to the Decals
And finally the vehicle and the Howitzer on top of the truck
I appologize for the pictures,.... I still have to get a little screen to avoid the bad contrasts (flowers in the back ground lol)
Thanks in advance!
Heli

Great looking DUKW
Nothing I can see wrong with it , in fact it looks very nice indeed , you must be planning quite some size dio with 3 vehicles in

Hi Steve,
Excellent looking vehicle, nicely finished, look very good indeed. The 105 looks good from what I can see, but the wheels look a little shiny but that may just be the camera effect.
Thanks for posting the photos look forward to seeing more.
Cheers

I like where you dinged and dented the rims of the wheels and weathered them to match. Good job

Looks great...i'll add to what Ian said about the drain ports by mentioning that most all WW2 Dukws that landed at the beach had the wheel skirts mounted on. Most all photos from the week will show this.Their very easy to make and you can add them to your finished model and they'll look great...
here's a link to a good explaination of what i'm talking about...

goodluck, it's looks great.
You may also want to checkout Liberator's gallery. He built one of the best looking Dukw/105mm combos i've ever seen.

First of all I would like to say thank you for all the nice words about my DUCK!
To the wheel skirts I would like to mention that I already painted and weathered them. I haven't mounded them yet because I still need to weather and fit the tires to the beach scene (sand on the tires etc.) In order to put the tires on, I have to wait til the weathering is done.
So I will put them on as soon as the DUCK is ready to be put on the DIO base. I forgot to mention that when I wrote the initial message.
@ Kevin
Thank you so much for this great article! It is very interresting to see how these very detailed extras are made from scratch! This is what modelling is about, unfortunately I am stil a beginner and haven't really tried to scratch anything yet. I am planning on "scratching" some things for my next projects though. Let's see how that will work out
Anyhow except for some minor fitting problems and one or two parts that broke off while building, it has been a lot of fun to build the DUKW.
Definitely a kit that I can recommend!
Ones more thanks to all the nice words. I will keep you all psted on the D-Day Diorama progress!
