Hello everybody
As you can see I started a new topic. The previous one was mess due to questions and links an new questions.... :-) So here you can now easy follow my progress. And I will post new WIP whenever I can.
I started of last year in december. I had build the warrior 6 till 7 years ago. The latest pics from Iraq had me pulled over to strip the kit (which was badly painted) and start all over.
This first pic was after the kit was stripped. Unfortunate the most roadwheel arms broke off during the paint strip . Thanks for Sean I was able to fix this. He had this great tip. You can see that tip on my website.
The first images, the broken roadwheel arms. And the fixed ones.
After the arms where solid as a rock again I started searching for some ref pics. The kit I have dated back to the first gulf war in 1991. So that was not accurate anymore. I bought my very first PE set from eduard and partially scratch some parts of the warrior.
The PE set:
The entire scratch build front addon armor. The tool box was a spare part from a Challenger 1 kit.
After adding the Pe set to the model I airburshed it completely black.
And after I bought a new airbrush I painted the desert colour. The black base coat comes out nice I believe.
That's all folks for now. More WIP will follow today I hope :-)
Cheers and thanks for viewing

Hi
It might be my monitor, or the black undercoat making things difficult, but Op Telic Warriors appear a much yellower shade of sand than ones from the 1991 Gulf War like this one:
Irish Guards Warrior
Of course there are variations, Military Modelling Magazine ran an article on it a few years ago.
The Osprey modelling book on the Challenger uses a Tamiya mix including a fair amount of yellow
XF60 x 3 + XF3 x 1
Thanks for sharing your Warrior with us

Hello all
I promised a new update and here it is.
I'll start of with telling what I did on the model. You will also see that it appears to much more yellow now. The first shots were taken late in the evening. I think it has al to do with light.
Things done today:
1) I made a cover over the side stowage bin and the front. This was done by dipping paper in a water and white glue mix. I added straps from my PE set to make it look real.
2) There are two smoke dischargers that where adjusted. I drilled them out to make them look empty. (Give me your thought please)
3) Then I also tried my very first paint chips on a model. I don't know if you can see them very well?? (First time I try this)
4) I also gave the tracks a first base colour. They are not finished yet. And I made the tow cables. I replaced the rope that was with the kit bye own made metal ones. Just twisted 6 pieces of metal wire (0.3mm)
That's all for now.
Cheers Roel

Hello
A new update today. I finished the covers and painted them in olive green. After the paint was dry I drybrushed the covers with a sand colour.
I also made a new pic so you can see the 2 modified smoke dischargers. Let me know if they are ok.
I am still very busy. I have just a long road to go.
Please give me your thoughts and advice.
Cheers Roel

Hey all
It has been a while since I posted here. But I had some other things to do then just work on my model. But I have finished quite a lot I believe. And had some real nasty work fitting the tracks. Although I think the are nice now.
Progress since last update:
1. I finished the tracks with pastels and added them on the model. They were a real lady but I managed to do it.
2. Painted the straps on the covers.
3. Gave all the periscoops the glass look.
4. Made those pipes you can see.
5. Adjusted the IFF panel according to a ref pic I had.
6. Fitted the whole mess on to the model.
7. Added the 2 tow cables.
Have a look and tell me what you think.
Next up:
1. Adding the fire extinguisher
2. Painting the decals
3. Adding backpacks and material (steel need to paint those)
4. Make something to cover the right side
5. Wheater the model (But I'm afraid to start that
6. ............
That's all folks
Cheers Roel

Hi Roel,
knowing where you started from, I just can admire your model. Don't worry about the weathering I can't believe you will mess it up when looking at what you've already done.
I like very much the kind of fascine of the side and the way you attached the IFF panel. It's really life-like.
I think you did it but on the picture it is not obvious if you drilled out the canno muzzle.
The PE set looks great and quite comprehensive. How much would you rate it ?

Coming along nicely. I like the fascine bundle and the paint job is looking good.
But where are the antenna bases?

Try contacting Accurate Armour ... They can sell you individual parts of their Warrior conversion sets. The guys at AA are really friendly, prices are reasonable and delivery fast.
Anyway, I really like your model. The fascines look great... what did you use?

It's looking really good.
A couple of comments that may help:
The curved cover over the engine louvres on the front deck is actually black plastic, not steel - it's usually painted the same colour as the vehicle, but soon scuffs through.
All FV510's & 511's (the infantry versions) have 3 periscope drivers hatches and have since '95 - they arrived in September IIRC.
Most warriors in the early period of the current Iraq war were in the normal green colour scheme and the Chobham plates should never match the vehicle - the British army doesn't have enough for all it's warriors so they are passed on from unit to unit!
Take care - I've got an IFOR FV510 project at the back of my mind (in a couple of years when I finish my 30AU dio).
