Finally my Tamiya LRDG Chevy is about 97.5% complete, with some minor tinkering remaining. Still good enough to receive a 'silver' ribbon at our recent IPMS New Zealand South Island Champs.
Next job is to build a proper base and buy my own digital camera! :-) :-)

Hi Jeff,
Congratulations. Great looking kit, you've done a nice job there. You'll have to get that camera and take a few more shots LOL, LOL.
You've done a good job with the colour. The Pinkys are had to get right, often they look too pink but yours is a nice soft colour. My only observation would be the wheel nuts. I'd be inclined to either use a deeper red or give them a light wash with some matt black. It might be the photo/flash but they look a sickley pink colour and spoil the overall vehicle which looks great.
I like the twin Brownings at the rear.
Are you putting it in a dio with some figures or is it an on the shelf job?
Thanks for sharing, a really great kit and well done at the competition.
Cheers
Al

Gidday Alan,
re the wheelnuts...that's one of the minor tweaks to work on! :-) The original idea was to show the British practise of painting the split-rim securing bolts red to stop people trying to loosen them. I decided that a dusky, weathered pink would look better than a full red. It was one of those little things I thought of, just as the judging started. :-) :-)
Pulling back, in the background is the diorama of a Honey Mk I, brought in by a Christchurch modeller.
My next goal is to build the Chevy into a diorama, featuring the radio-op/navigator doing the evening check-in using the long-range 'Windom' aerials.

My thanks for all your kind comments.

Hi Jeff
Congratulations on the result well done.
I like the dusty/chalky/ sun affected look you have achieved. It must be a hard thing to get right in pink.
I cant wait to see it in its finished diorama.
Regards
Sean

Hi Jeff,
I'll look forward to seeing your dio, there are a few good figures about that might be useful.
I have two of these to build, despite it's age I think this is a great wee kit with lots of possibilities.
Nice Honey there, a neat little dio.
Again great work and thanks for sharing.
Cheers

Very nice looking indeed Jeff. Please post some photos of the diorama when it is completed. The setting for it looks interesting.

Thanks Sean. The 'LRDG pink' has actually been dry brushed on over the top of a Canadian Desert Tan I'd mixed from ModelMaster Acryl and applied as a basic colour. By building up the pink (a mix of Aeromaster acrylics) in stages I could control the weathering and allow for the effects that bleaching and sand blasting would have.
