Gday lads and lasses
Here is my Sherman back on track... have been distracted by diorama experiments and the daily grind, but busted the tank out this weekend...

I have reshaped the transmission housing (which was the later sharper nosed version) to the more rounded early style... You can see the Formations update parts in resin. The headlight guards aren't made yet, but have the rear ones on... Finally got my hands on some brass foundry casting numbers which I have updated the mantlet and turret top with...

Scratchbuilt the commanders' sight yesterday after snapping the resin one (believe you me, quite easy to do!) And was pleased as punch with the end result!

This is going to be my entry for The Purple hearts campaign (maybe it's over already!) but I have changed my ideas soooo many times....
The idea is that it has run over a mine and come to a quick halt... There will be a small crater under the missing links, with some extra links to be added dipping into the crater, and a couple of individual links scattered ... Has thrown up dirt which is caked to the chassis, and have depicted the tyre which took the brunt as partly shredded... Not sure how low the bogey arm would hang the wheel on the left of pic into the hole, but I probably won't change the angle it is on by any more...

Please drop me any comments as to how I'm going
Cheers Brad

I'm seeing tons of AM parts on this one :-) I love the shredded wheels. Looking forward to it being done!

Thanks Ralph... The only AM parts are the brass numbers and the resin pieces. The front fenders I made out of sheet brass, using the Aber fret as a template, and shaping them myself...
Have made some stowage but the photos turned out like crap so I'll re do them

I'm trying to get some pics of the rear stowage up, as I need to pick some brains as to some further items...
Cheers

Hi again
Have been quite the industrious one (by my standards at least)

Here are a couple of pics of the M4 which has been OD'd and some basic weathering applied... But dammit, maybe that will almost be enough weathering

]

Not the one to do anything too rash as I bugger things up a lot, it has a yellow Indian ink filter... Then a wash with burnt sienna ink. There have been some stains added with burnt sienna oil thinned plenty, and then a dust up of Tamiya weathering master...

Will do a light spray of the running gear (ok basically the lower half of the tank) tomorrow with a tan or similar...
Gotta love the MV lenses for contrast!
Cheers
Brad
P.S. Sorry for the small pics... I'll work on it now!

Thanks for the feedback Christopher, Gary, Paul and Sarge... I'm in a dilemma with the raised welds, and want to re-do them... they are a little too scrappy, and want to bulk them out a bit more. Was thinking to scrape them back to original recessed level, and use thin worms of Milliput , pre-tinted with pastels to blend instantly... But this is back-burning at the moment, as I'm working on scratchbuilding a figure for it...
Cheers for looking

Scrappy? Not sure what you mean by that, but the milliput idea is a good one. I use seam filler to make welds.
