Contruction completed and initial camo paint scheme finished. The 'purplish' color isn't, its brown (still can't figure out those cameras). Next step is semi-gloss overcoat in preparation for decals and light weathering. Does anyone know what color the inside of the hatches are? Right now, the UGWS is same green as body but the driver hatches are a whitish gray. Any help would be appreciated as would comments on the build thus far.

Looks like a good start. The inside surface of all the hatches is green, with black rubber pads. The camo looks pretty good, but it is too hard of an edge if you ask me. I would drybrush with the same camo colors along the edges to feather them out some. Keep us posted.

I kind of liked the purple ish color until you said it's actually brown. Looks good!

Vic,

Your AAVP7A1 looks really nice....I love your camo work...they are very sharp.....

Looking at your picture, it seems like it is hard edge....

I still have my Acacemy LVTP camo job done in similiar capacity but have no time to weather it....

When you have weather it, please show us....I can;t wait to see it.....

Hi Vic,

Your AAv looks like it is off to a good start. Previous people have broiught up some interesting points here. I tend to agree on the camo. the edges are a bit hard. And Mike mentioned weathering. I think once you have decalled and weathered this, the edges of your camo paint job wont be too hard. Depending on how youre going to weather it anyway. most of the tracks I saw in Somalia and Iraq are so filthy, some of them you cant even tell they are the nato 3 color camo scheme. Theyre sdo dirty they look like they were painted "sand" LOL So, I wouldnt necessarily do anything to your camo job. Here is one of my favorite AAV pictures. The three guys standing around are looking at this as if they are saying "sonofa, I didnt know there was a shortcut there" LOL
