Well, I finally got some more work done on my M1114. This time I added some paint. I also added the Eduard Hummer placards to the interior and mounted the Mk 19 to the turret. I still need to add the radios and some more gear to the interior and then start the weatherin process to the exterior.
rest assure, I will add one of my little unique touches to this model, like the tiolet paper roll and "One weekend My A@#" sign on my other Hummer or the "For Sale - Call Iraq" sign on my LAV to this model.

Wow Pete, I really like Your interior painting it top notch, love how it looks worn out and faded. Great Job!

Ciro,
The Smoke poppers are from Blast models. Jeff had an extra set and sent them to me. The paint job is two colors, Model Masters US Army/Marines Sand and Tamiya Buff sprayed in a cloud pattern over that to tone the first color down.

Thanks Mother for the comment. Just wait till I add the Mig Powders to it.

Pete. I love the turret. Is that an AM thing or did you do it yourself? Nice interior too. Love the placards.

Bob,
Arnold(SOPMOD6) scratch built it and casted up a couple for me months ago. I have the designs on one of the recent threads, I think it;s M1025 hummer qiestion.

Wow--that's a good looking Humvee, Pete. The gunner's shield and armor look great. Will this one be placed in a dio?

One small point--in pictures of M1114s that I've seen, the mirror on the driver's side is located much lower than the one on the passenger's side. I don't know if that's how they come out of the factory, but I also noticed the same placement on the M1151 pics in the AM General web site.

Lucas,
These M1151's came into our shop about a month ago. You can see where they mounted the mirrors, but you are right also on mine. i've seen them in different positions. I really just eyeballed mine on.

Wow oh wow! This is great. I like the choice of the Mk-19 instead of a .50. Man I wish someone would make a mount for a 240.

Did you scratchbuild the GPS antenna? If so, do you have the dimensions for at least the mount?

PS, I'm gonna take some pictures today, so look for an update tonight or tomorrow.

Keep it up.

Excellent work Pete. It makes me realize I used the wrong color on the interior of my Humvee. Oh well, I learn something new every day!

Cheers,
Gary

Gary,
Not necesserily the wrong color. What color did you use. The interior can be painted NATO Green or Desert Sand. I chose green just to brake up the desert sand color.

Jeff,
I used one of the mounting brackets from the Blast smoke poppers and just built the box around and on top of that. In oter words, I guessed, but i have a good picture on my work computer that I can send you when i get to work.

Damn, Pete! That turret turned out extremely nice! I guess I have to dig into my pile of kits and dig out a Hummer...

One thing I noticed that you could add is firing wires to the smoke grenade launchers.

"This is the longest AT ever!" :-)

Looking good Pete. Are you going to put any tow straps in the front or a bar in the rear? Also just something to think about if you build another, seems useless at this stage for this vehicle, is that the 1114s I saw still had the black "trashbag" covering on the seats. Ive never been sure as to why but yeah, they still had em on.

Jeff,
I was going to add them before I painted it, but decided not to, but know I think I will after all.

Zach,
"LONGEST AT EVER!" I like that one.
I guess they kept those bags over the seats so they wouldn't get dirty!

Hi all
Pete,I've some questions...
1)Did you use a black base for your sand colour?!
2)Have you some detailed photos of smoke poppers?!(I would to build
them)
3)Did you use an eduard detail set for 1025 or 1046 for the interiors?!
4)How will you use mig powders?!I mean...in which mode yo'll use on
your model?!which thinner?!

Thanks in advance...

Ciro,
1. I usually use a black base coat, but this time I used Tamiya Flat Brown but you can't really tell cause the Sand color covered it so well.

2. Detailed pictures? Do you mean detailed as in pictures of the real thing or pictures of the model ones. If you want pictures of the real thing, I can look around and see if I can find a TM on them.

3.Yup, I used bits and peices from the M1025 set like the radio rack, ammo can rack, seat belts, gunners stand, things that are more common between the two.

4.I use straight rubbing alchol with my MIG powders. I am going to try and do the same thing I did with my LAV but with a little bit more dirty look in the interior.

Hey Ciro,

Your hummer is looking great so far! Nice work! Did you make the body side armor yourself, or is that an after market kit? Also, where did you get the doors and gun shield? If you did that gun shield from Petes drawings, Id say it looks perfect. Good luck on the rest of your build.
