Greetings
I'm building Dragons Firefly Vc Kit # 6182.The instructions indicate
that the idler wheel has a rubber coating(black),yet when I research this
I see no sign of the rubber idler. So what is the straight scoop on this?
Rubber or steel.
Thanks in advance
Patrick

Hi Patrick,
To the best of my knowledge the idler wheel was steel.
Cheers

It was steel. I've seen many examples in person, and there's no rubber on them. Dragon instructions are always a bit "chancy", so please post other questions you may have. As I recall, the idler mounts are also an issue on that one, as the kit comes with several options.

Ah yes there are two different idler mounts and the instructions are
at best chancy.I've found alot of pictures on this tank, but none
from the rear or least pictures that are clear enough too see.
What I've noticed is this kit has a large supply of supply of spare
parts but no clear idea on were things are supposed to go...
This is only my second M-4 the other being tamiyas M-4 heavy,
and I've noticed the numerious varients of the M-4 and I just
want to get this thing right

Although you've dredged up an older thread, I want to correct something. Your photo of a possible rubber idler wheel must only be paint. The VVS Sherman idlers were all steel. Only the HVSS idler had a rubber tire.
Confusion exists because some museums or "gate guardians" have had the rear idler painted black. The idler and the return roller wheels were absolutely all steel. HTH
However, I'd love to look at the photos you are citing (after all, I'm sure you aren't a lunatic ). Pls fwd to me if possible. [email protected]. Thnx!

Fell in that same trap when I started building Shermans. But I have reformed . Easy enough to do but Armorama does help back onto the straight and narrow.
